I have been learning the whole system for six days and I have activated four books so far, and have one more book that I have partially activated but would like at least two more 30 minute sessions with.
The system works. I am not yet fluent, of course, but I am comfortable with it, and at one point the day before yesterday when I was regular reading for pleasure (something that I had photoread but didn't intend to use the whole system on), I automatically started superreading when I got to a bit that wasn't too interesting/important to me 
I caught myself doing this and was surprised and gratified, not to mention amused that such a drastic change has taken place in such a short time!
So - how long does it take? Doesn't need to take long at all.
