I have heard it said many times with a textbook you want want to treat each individual chapter as a book itself.I have heard that you want to photoread the chapter before, photoread the chapter you are studying and photoread the chapter after.

If you want an extremely high level of detail that will require you to make many, many multiple passes through the textbook.

You will spend much more time activating a textbook than a regular book. If you want lots of detail you will have to spend lots of time activating but it will still be faster than regular reading.

If you are starting to learn photoreading this is not the time to do it. It is not a wise idea to try to learn photoreading on something that has a lot at stake.
