More a case of we have grown up from having a slow eidetic memory to having a fast one so that we don't even recognise we are using our eidetic memory. If we want to see the pictures we have to slow the motion down. Bit like a movie. All flashing past our eyes we have rapid motion... to look at one frame or single picture we have to stop the movement of the film.
