It has been a over a month since I have last tryed bothering to learn to photoread. I wonder, why it hasn't worked for me? What did I do wrong?

Well, the only mistakes I think that I did, was having a strong determination to learn this valuable skill which last an average of 2-3 hours, but after three tryes ending in failer, I don't know if I should continue. Oh yeah, even though I was determined, I still doubted my ability to learn it, How bout that?

I'm back at it again. This time though, I hope things turn out different. I don't have much time with my finals close by, so I'll keep my sessions short. Anyone have any advise?

Hi there, I'm also new at this, but I've been scouting around on this forum for a while now and have been reading many posts. To learn photoreading you must "play" with it, don't take it too seriously. Having that kind of mind system will help you learn this process much easier. From your post, I can sense a bit of urgency due to your finals. From what I know, stress and urgency are the one of the major blockages that prevents you from learning PR. To learn PR, one must be in a totally relaxed state and a curious mind, but if you're very anxious and stressed b/c you have to learn it before a certain time, you're pressuring yourself making it extremely hard to learn the PR whole mind system. I'm still new at this and I'm taking advice from all the others who have been using this whole mind system for a while and that is to try the whole mind system on things that may interest you and have nothing to do with school, so that you feel more relaxed and want to "play" with the system so that you can discover what works for you and what doesn't. I hope this helps, I also hope that others can correct me if I'm wrong and I hope someone more experienced can give you a hand as well. Good luck with the PR whole mind system and good luck with your finals, don't give up!

Hello new.at.this.

I had almost same experience like you before. The main reason why I have failed to use PR for exams last year was lack of purpose. Question yourself, "what do I want to get out from this book? What section should I focus to do well on the test, etc." Having strong purpose in the preview step as well as having relaxation in prepare step will found the strong base of reading.

You said you have finals soon.
So this is what I would do if I were you. First prepare by imagining tangerine at the back part of your head by closing your eyes and have a purposeful statement what you want to do with the book to do well on the exam. Then enter the preview step and see the table of content that matches up with the chapters that final exam will be on.
Photoread twice each book. Then Listen to Memory supercharger for 18 minutes and enter the activation step.

Here, I am sure you have a practice final exams if you are a college student. So do the final exam and check the answers. Superread&Dip by reading the questions and choices that you missed from the practice final exam.
Then I recommend you to do rapid reading and do the mind map.

I have done this way for my history exam and I got 96% hitting the curve. My friends can't believe my result because I used to get around 75% on every exams spending more than 12 hours total before the test. If I can do this, I am sure you can do this too.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful for your final exam. Good luck on your finals

If you're learning with the home study course make sure you do the exercises along with the course and course manual. Without doing the exericises in the manual the home study course is not going to show you the PhotoReading system very well. So just listening to the course and thinking I understand that doesn't work. It's designed to give you the experience.

Be sure to do the Star of Wonder exercise again even if you have done it before. It's a valuable lesson in NOPS.

Alex

Thanks to everyone who read and answered. I feel charged enough to place my thoughts of restarting photoreading into action. I hope though I have the drive and concentration yet as you guys have mention to remain clam and playful. It tough as it is understanding at times what i'm talking about, but I'm willing to do it. As you can tell from my self-critical views of my abilities, I lack self-confidence, but I won't let that get in my way.
