Answer me that and you'll find your purpose "D

I find that when studying technical books, PhotoReading the book prior to studying it helps me to grasp the material much, much faster. Basically, its like I just "get it". Prior to learning Photoreading, I'd encounter material that would just throw me off, or I'd struggle with a concept, or I'd have to simply read, and re-read the material.
Now, I PR, then I read through the book and it goes quite quickly - I find that I actually enjoy reading the material because I'm learning without struggling which is what makes it enjoyable.
Your mileage may vary though, you could PR, and then activate simply by writing code.

BTW - I don't think that Alex is trying to be flippant... He may not know what C++ is and I think he's trying to find out what your purpose for reading the material is. As you know, before you PR, you first need to declare your purpose, is it reading for fun, or are you trying to learn a new skill.

How will what you learn improve your work? What will you be using the C++ for, specifically?

No I wasn't being flippant, I do know what C++ is. If you had difficulty answering my question it only indicated that you lacked a real purpose for working with those books.

Your last response is still is a step in the right direction. Now,

So how do you expect that C++ will help you write better programs?

Hint when you activate the book that's the information you'll be looking for.

Fastest way to activate any book is to know your outcome... if you have a specific project that you want to apply C++ to then that's your purpose, What you need to know to write that program is what you will be looking for when you activate. As you are already a programmer you know you can expect some of the information to be similar to other languages you're now familar with. Therefore you want to get to the stuff that is most useful to you at this time.

So purpose, how are you going to apply what you learnt. What do you need to know? What do you need the program to do? (the one you're planning to apply c++ to).

Alex
