I think the question is not, "Why not get through my schoolwork faster?", but "Why?"
I think what Alex is getting at is to be able to step back a little bit and see more of the big picture. Do you have a major purpose that all of the little things you do each day siphon into?
It's like going to the University. Most people would not just go because they don't have anything else to do (although I think many people go because they think they *should* go.) With something like that, there's usally a purpose; be it become a doctor, engineer, writer, artist, etc. What they eventually want to do becomes their purpose, and the University is the way to get there.
If you could have all the information you'd ever need instantly transferred into your conscious mind, would you? Why? What would that help you accomplish? You're talking about getting through things faster, but ultimately what for? So you can......(what do you need the free time for?)
Asking yourself these questions not only helps you with Photoreading, but with your life in general as well.
