In the books it mentions serveral times that PRer can remember the exact figures of some materials.
My question is that during activation do we need to recite what we need, like the figures, on purpose?

If the figure is asked of you in a multiple choice question you will probably select the correct one because you have PhotoRead it.

If you need to know the figures as a basis of the formula then yes you would need to consicously activate it and mind map itto recognise the association. In which case I would PhotoRead with the conscious purpose of knowing the formula.

The question is... What is your purpose?

Actually I want to read my textbooks actively, like the PR system, and give up the traditional reading strategy.
But quite often I am not sure if I should recite something important on purpose, or if there are other alternatives. (Because they may appear in exam papers and they are data that is impossible to absorb) And if I do so, should I spend more than twenty minutes in the step of activation?

Activation is blocks of 20 minutes not limited to 20 minutes. You apply as many blocks as necessary to satisfy your comprehension and understanding of the subject.

The PhotoReading system is about reading choices it is not an either or approach.

It is not either traditional reading or PhotoReading. It is about getting the information to the level of comprehension you desire. Some reading material will require analytical reading this is reading along with critical thinking. Usually and it should be the last stage of reading. This means you will have overviewed, looked for general understanding, then read for comprehensive understanding and are now applying critical thinking to various sections of the text because you have obtained a sound knowledge of the rest of the text. Analytical reading need only be applied to various sections of the text however with traditional reading we tend to apply it too much, too soon.
