I tried PR on at least 3 different times and I will try one last time. I guess I feel stupid cause I can't comprehend the reading like what I hear on your forum. I have a relaxed mind I meditate and do peaceful things to relax including kung fu(for 30 years), but because I can't get the results I hear I should get I feel stupid and extremely discourage. What can I do beyond the obvious to get into a real PR flow. Please Advice thanks in advance Brian

I couldn't resist that. I watch 10 minutes of episode 5 with my son last night and that was the last scene we watched.

It is try though. Don't have the attitude of trying. If you are doing each of the 5 steps as described. Then you are Doing it. Your results improve with repetition. As your mind and body become better tuned for this action.

With 30 years of kung fu you are probably better than you were when you started. Although you could kick and punch right from the start. So to with PRing. You can do it from the start, but with consistent and determined repitition you become more capable.

I like the Yoda and Luke analogy. Luke as Anikan's son is stronger in the force than Yoda. Yet Luke could not lift the skip from the swamp and Yoda could.

There are many reasons may explain illogical situation. One is that Luke lacked the confidence. Another is that he did not follow his master's teaching. Yoda says that Luke failed because he did not believe. Almost all of us limit ourselves in so many ways with little beliefs of what we can and can not do. Believing that PhotoReading can work for us is a big step beyond our comfort zone (our known realm of safe experiences). We can expect to get a lot of internal resistance to performing this behaviour.

The resistance R you experience is a function of the distance D from your comfort zone and the speed S that you try and acquire the new behaviour.

R = D + S (from Learning to Learn by D. Trinidad Hunt)

(As a warning and I have a physics and math background). There is not reason to believe that the relationship for R, D, and S is additive. It is increase as a function of both variables. It could be more generaly written as R=f(D,S). However the importance of the increasing nature is lost. So for simplicity and power of the message the relationship has R = D + S is suitable.

However, my background won't let me forget that this message is modified by the power P of some ones belief that they can acquire the new behaviour.

R = (D + S) / P

Now rambling some more, what does P, the power of belief, depend on. Well it depends on confidence, past experience, determination, faith, commitment, desire, and probably a few other things I can't think of now. Not that there isn't cross-over and ambiguity in this list already.

So how does LSC try and help you reduce the resistance R that you are experiencing, when trying to learn PhotoReading?

Decreasing D, S, and increasing P are the things much of the techniques, advice, stories and strategies address. Most of the advice on this forum is basically of this nature.

How can we reduce Distance?
We can look for small signs of success. Becoming aware of yourself and responding to the messages you are sending yourself.

How can we reduce Speed?
We can let go of our expectations; we can play with it.

How can we increase the Power of belief?
This is more nebulous, so lets work on the factors that influence belief. Confidence: you are told that we all have the ability. Heck, if AlexK can do it then anybody can -> AlexK. Stories of other peoples progress and success. Commitment: encouraged to use it on everything. You are given a 5 day test, which is a limited commitment / challenge. Desire: you came with a desire, but building powerful purposes will augment this. Past experience: stories of other people, and looking for your small successes.

Now, I doubt that the PR course was developed with R = D + S model, but they are aware of it at LSC. I can also see so much more of value in their material, they draw from so many sources for carving this program to try and make it the most effective for the most number of people.

I would suggest making a Realistic commitment to using PRing and sticking to it. Two hours a day for the next year is not realistic for most people. Committing to 10 minutes a day for 6 months is a smaller step (smaller D). Maybe says 35 minutes a day for only 5 days is the same size of D. This is the 5 day test commitment. Probably the same results as the 10 minutes a day for 6 months approach, but in a week not six months.

Now there is some actually changes / learning going on so don't think that 2 1/2 hours one day will get the same results as the 5 day challenge. The 5 day challenge is crafted with the same knowledge of optimum learning methodologies as the entire PRing system.

Using the 5 day challenge repeatedly is a good strategy for multiple small D's.

Remember there is Much More in the system than just working with D, S and P, so do review the material occaisionally and NOPS it.

I hope this helps you. It's sometimes valuable to consider the why of what you are asked to do. Do it and it will work isn't enough for many people. Understanding it helps to get the conscious mind on side and this will reduce Resistance and increase the Power of your belief that PRing does work, and will work for you.

P.S. So why didn't LSC (Pete) put all of the knowledge building material into the PRing book / course? Sometimes too much information is counter productive. Also, motivation and education were probably to two biggest forces shaping the way the PRing system is presented. Teach then how to access their natural abilities and motivate them to use it.

You don't say what you are doing for activation?

What are your mind probing questions when you activate and what is your purpose for reading the book?

To really get into the flow of PhotoReading set a timer. If you want to do a 20 minute activation do a 20 mimute activation no more no less then take a break and reflect again.

Also resist the mistake of expecting to know it in one or two activation passes. As a beginner you will need to apply about (may be slightly more or it might be slightly less) 1/3 the time it takes you to tradionally read a book to activation.

So if the book usually takes 6 to 9 hours expect to spend at least to to 3 hours activation.

I recommend if you want to get into the flow of PhotoReading quickly apply the 5 day test (p76 of the PhotoReading book) on 4 ot 5 books over the next month or two.

Alex
