In my English listening exam, the tape is about a seminar or a presentation. I have 5 minutes 5 mins to familarise myself with the questions and the situation before the tape starts. The questions can be re-formulating the questions, filling the time schedule, labelling, matching and asking about the standpoint.
In this period, we need to make the most of our time, since if you are not well prepared you sure can't know what you are listening and what notes to jot.

I think PR will help preview the questions as I can go back quickly to where I want to read
If you faced the same exam, how would you allocate the time for PR? And how to PR and activate the paper?

Are you referring to the exam questions or what questions you are supposed to have in mind for the listening exam?

We usually know something of what the subject will be about. It's probably that the exam questions clue you however mind mapping is the way to go when jotting notes and listening to information.

Sorry for making u confused.
Our exam paper includes some questions like matching. How can I be more familiar with the items in matching or mc, so that I can make quick response to the answers during listening?
I have tried PR and read them once, but still I cant make it.

Jot notes using mindmap?
How to do that? Wont it be a mess?

Mind mapping a mess? Abstract perhaps and colourful if you use different colours but it's a great way of following what is being said. Wheneven the speaker changes the topic somewhat swap markers and if they happen to come back to something they were talking about earlier you can add it to the right place a lot easier than with linear notes.

When it comes to honing your listening skills the best way is to practice mind mapping while watching the news. Talk shows, infomercials, documentaries.
