Feel comfortable and at ease in the knowledge that photofocus is the result of using your eyes and you can go in and out of photofocus whenever and however you want.
By going in and out of photofocus you are actually gaining more control over your eyes. Its kinda the opposite of what you suspected. 
It's just like using any other muscle set in a new way, it ultimately improves coordination. 
It's good to read books on grammar and what not (btw-grammar is spelled with two "A"s).
A neat trick with spelling: when you notice you have misspelled a word, visualize the correctly spelled word and make the corrected portion really big and bouncy, like those letters are saying, "HEY YOU! LOOK AT ME!!!!"
