Doing a very accurate study on PhotoReading, be it its efficiency, effectiveness, affects on the brain, or its simple mechanics to determine if it really is 3 times faster immediately, or whatever - is next to impossible.

To attempt to measure the activity and the specific thought processes involved in the subconscious mind during the PhotoReading step, which mind you, are possibly entirely and totally different, for each and every person. An EEG(electroencephalogram) shows activity taking place, but not even an EEG or an MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) can determine what, specifically, is taking place.

What is occuring in the brain during PhotoReading is important - without knowing what the neurons are up to, you're not knowing the full story.

Also, Alex is correct in that they are attempting to measure a system that isn't PhotoReading.

PhotoReading is not entirely about speed, and in fact, speed is not the driving force of the system. Instead, it's the way that you're processing information entirely differently than you would normally.

Not only this, but the scientific method can only measure in terms of language, but language cannot begin to describe all of what takes place during something like a session of Direct Learning, or PhotoReading and then Image Streaming. The amount of activity, the extent to which that activity takes place beyond conscious awareness...just how in the world do you measure something like that? Just how in the world can you isolate variables to that, or create a control with that? These are other questions to consider.
