I just started going through PRWMS and I'm having a LOT of trouble. I tried the dictionary game and fail miserably, for some reason I always imagine words on the top left corner and get them always wrong. Then there's the whole relaxation thing. I don't understand what I'm suppsoed to feel with breathing in deeply. I also can't seem to picture and focus a tangerine on the back of my head all te time as I get caught up in trying to look for an imaginary x on the page. I get the feeling I'm struggling WAY more than most. Does anyone have any advice? I'm only beginning the 3rd tape of it and am ALREADY having problems. Please help!!!

Hi; you are not supposed to constantly feel the tangerine at the back of the head. Once you have placed the imaginary tangerine at the back of the head leave it there and don't worry about keeping it there.

Don't worry about getting the dictionary game right. It's just a exercise.

On relaxation think of a beautiful place. That place can be a sandy beach by the ocean with feeling the warm sun on your face and hearing the the soothing sound of the waves of the ocean or it could be at a beautiful garden or at a beautiful forest.

Take in a deep breath hold it for a moment and silently say relax and slowly release your breath.Take in another deep breath hold it again and silently say relax.Take in one more deep breath and again silently say relax.

You want to be relaxed so you can be in the optimal state for learning. When you are stressed out it interferes with learning and Photoreading.

Congratulations you're doing well. The Dictionary game is just a game and it just gives you feedback. If you're getting 100% wrong you're using your mind perfectly. And from your results I can tell you that you have strong doubts about PhotoReading working for you. You mind has given you exactly what you expect. to get 100% wrong your mind needs know where the answers lie in order to avoid hitting the right answer by chance.

Where to from here? Keep going, Suspend your beliefs about PhotoReading, for and against. Just continue with the course. Play with the exercises just to see what happens.

A deep breath in and a slow exhale will help to release physical tension, as well as slow down the brainwaves. The feelings are subtle and easy to miss but what happens is that it brings you into the present more, thinking less about the future or past and more about what is going on here. It's a way of bringing you more into focus. If you think about being more in the present and just letting go of any tension in the body and mind you've don enough for now.

I am going to assume that you "remember" what a tangerine looks like? Now imagine that tangerine and physically toss it from hand to hand. This helps to trigger your memory about a tangerine, like weight, texture, smell, what it feels like. Then when you place the tangerine at the top back part of your head just touch the top back part of your head for am moment and notice the sensations there. Just remember that sensation there and you've got your tangerine.

The imaginary X. Open a book, and with your finger draw a diagonal line from the top right corner to the lower left of the opposite page. Notice where your finger touched the crease. Now draw the diagonal from the top left to the lower right. Where you finger crost the crease both times iw where you place your soft gaze, while noticing the corners of the books where you "drew" the lines. That's the imaginary X don't try to see the invisible lines you drew just remember where you put them. Relax, If you notice the four corners while gazing into the center of the book the imaginary X is still there.

Go easy on yourself. You are expecting perfection at a point where Paul is only asking you to explore the different parts of the course. Keep going with the course it comes together more and more with each tape.
Your confusion is understandable because you weren't taught this approach to reading at school and yet it seems too easy so we expect something different to be happening than what is happening.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna continue with this, you've all given me some sort of confirmation that I'm proceeding somewhat normally. I'm gonna continue with this and post my results! I do seriously want this to work for me but its just SOOOOOOOOO different from anything I've EVER tried before. I guess the only way to suspend doubt is to trudge on ahead. Thanks a lot.
