Hi Jeff,

Given that you are similar with your analytical mindset, and are relatively new to PhotoReading, I would like to keep in touch to see what progress you make. I have photoread about 10 reports so far, and during the activation period, I am finding that while I ask lots of questions, and then try to answer them in a Super Reading fashion, I end up going to the main sections and reading key paragraphs. I glide and skip certain sections, and settle on paragraphs which seem to give me what I want. One could say this is the success of photoreading. However I tried doing this without the photoreading step, applying the OPIR system (Overview, Preview, Inview and Review), asking questions that I need answer as I go. I found no difference with my success with the OPIR technique over the Photoreading technique - I manage to still home in on key information and skip bits, as long as I feel comfortable my question has been answered.

I'm not saying the PhotoReading step is irrelevant, unneeded or anything of the sort. I have photoread 10 reports and thats it, so I appreciate I need to do a lot more before this whole system comes together. In the meantime, as I continue, I am left wondering what I will gain over what I can do with the OPIR system with photoreading. I am sure there is something to be gained....

No butts about the changing of the page every two seconds? Or is that related to something else during the PR step?

I ask because during the PR Retreat, some people were flipping faster than I can count!

I should have written No less than one page every two seconds I stand corrected on clarity.

That's the starting rate for beginners. The slowest we let them go in a class and is the speed it takes to PhotoRead 25,000wpm. It works out 1 page per second when you turn every two second. The ones flying through the books faster were going faster than 25,000 wpm. Which is great too because they find it helps them stay in Photofocus and in the ideal state better. If you want to go faster go fast but say the chant to keep you focused because going faster you will miss pages and you have to be able to accept that your mind can handle missing a page here and there. Considering it is only about 600 words when you miss a page and only 11 to 20% of those words carry meaning the mind can do an excellent job of filling in the blanks anyway. The challenge is to change your reading Paradigm... that you must read every single word to understand what the book is about.

Beginners have trouble with it because they analyse as the are doing the step and you cannot be doing the steps if you are analysing them.

They forget to let go and play (experiemnt) with it and hold themselves back until, they think they got this, that or the other right. They stay with one part of the course "till they get it right" but that's like trying to learn to roller skate when you've only put one skate on. It's Okay... Even eagles need a push before they spread their wings.
