Hey all, I'm very new to Photoreading. I just got my hands on the book a few days ago, and I think that it's something I'll be able to do. I'm a bit confused, however, over PhotoFocus and the Accelerated Learning state.

First of all, when I do the 3-2-1 technique, I don't really feel any fundamental shift. Sure, I feel relaxed and calm with a peaceful state of mind, but I can't really feel like I'm in any sort of "state." If I open my eyes and walk around I feel no different than right after my 3-2-1. Is the 3-2-1 technique supposed to "click" or is the goal merely relaxation?

I'm glad that entering the Accelerated Learning State doesn't feel unusually different. It's something the mind can does access naturally whenever we reach the flow state in an activity. It's a state of relaxed alertness. Where the mind is able to focus on the task at hand, usually for the purpose of learning but is still relevant to other activities like playing sports, building and creating stuff. We are usually in that state when we are working on something with full concentration and not noticing the rest of the world for the time we are involved in that activity.

Using a technique like the 3-2-1 technique lets you trigger it closer to will. For PhotoReading use it just before PhotoReading itself. It has other useful applications, learning at school, listening to seminars and presentations that are important to you but not as engaging as you would like. Getting ready to take an exam. Calming yourself for a presentation or game. Anytime you would like to apply steady attention to a task at hand. Since it helps to keep the mind from wandering too much.

Used regularly with the intention of triggering that relaxed alertness whenever you PhotoRead and Affirm your intentions to obtain the information you seek from what you PhotoRead. You'll find your activation is easier because you build the body mind connection faster.

Secondly, I don't quite understand PhotoFocus. I have no trouble at all getting the blip page, and I can see the "cocktail weenie" easily, even looking straight at it. However, when I'm doing it I think I'm just crossing my eyes, much as I do when I'm looking at one of those 3D puzzles. Is this the right way to look at the page? Because I never lose the blip but I seem to see 2 of everything.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you are crossing you eyes you're not in Photofocus. Aside from the fact that this is uncomfortable and can cause headaches you're not using your peripheral vision.

When you view 3D images the image will come off the page when you use parallel focus. That is also the correct focus for PhotoReading.

If you view 3D images using crossed-eyed vision they will look like they are cut-outs. Like the holes left in dough when cutting out cookies. If this is what you see then you are *not* in Photofocus.

If you see two of each page then you are probably cross-eyed. Forget the blip page, relax your gaze and use the imaginary X-Technique. This works just as well and is really much easier to use when you are beginning to learn PhotoReading.
