I've been looking over this subject and I personally tried to search for proof. I could find none. There is no proof that the theories behind this are sound or that this even works. I'm interested, but I cannot find proof and my better judgement tells me that if there's no proof it's fake. The only citation of proof that I saw was that someone supposedly photoread U.S patents and had a comprehension rate of 75%. However, nobody provided evidence that the event actually occured. Putting the fact that 75% happens to be the cutoff comprehension level on tests aside there is also the fact that another citation of this proof claimed over 90% comprehension.

Anyways, the whole point of this thread is to ask for proof. Not personal testimonies though, this could all be an elaborate psychological effect that deceives people into thinking they actually comprehend. I am asking for solid proof. Perhaps an actual tape of someone performing this feat. Links to independent sources validating this. Maybe photoreaders participating in official competitions?

If you want to proof then try it? I have been Photoreading for 3years. I have family members who I have proved it to, but they still don't believe it. There are numerous success stories posted in this forum. None of them have been solicited by LSC or compensated after the fact. I personally can finish most books in 1/2 hour to 2 1/2 hours. It never ceases to amaze me how it works. Take a look thru the Archives as well.

I skimmed through, but couldn't find much... I want to photoread, but I can't just do something that sounds completely ludicrous and has no backing. I just can't force myself to be a believer, without seeing some real evidence. I also don't have money for courses. Wouldn't a corporation provide some real proof of their system if it's so great? It'd be well worth the expenditure. People would be all over this course if they'd see someone performing the actual feat. I'd like to believe that someone managed to do this, but I've seen far too many "magic" boards where people claimed to have performed magic spells among other things.

Sheegy, I'm a healthy skeptic who is not sold on everything either. That said, I do have a few points for you to consider:

1) "Evidence", not proof. This isn't geometry, it's social.

2) Personal accounts are evidence. Sadly, this is the internet, so that means a series of forum posts is not solid evidence. Unless you're prepared to do sufficient legwork (e.g. personally interview each individual in real life), it will be hard to get any verfication.

3) Use your head for a moment. Take the photoreading step out, and look at the rest of it. None of that is different then any other reading strategy. Do you read the back of books before you read the whole thing? Look, you just previewed. They're just suggesting a more structured approach, and vary it according to the material and personal requirements.

4) That leaves the photoreading step. On the logical side, it takes, say, 10 minutes for a book (including some time to relax). You can be the greatest skeptic in the world, but 10 minutes? I've done far more stupid things with my time in my day. :-)

5) The photoreading state is self-hypnosis. There is ample evidence that people under hypnosis are able to perform mental feats, e.g. remember forgotten facts, that they can't do consciously.

In summary, you have a basic reading strategy coupled with an extra few minutes of self-hypnosis. Even if the latter is utter poppycock, the former is still useful and the latter can't hurt.

-Jeff

P.S. I do agree that I would like to see something formal here. Studies on a college campus with the professors as, at minimum, observers.

I have an idea.. yahoo.. and other such companys have e-groups..that people can set up .. free of chage... and an option to have a live chat room.. now i am sure.. that a host of people from all around the world that come here, would be willing to join such a group, and at times agreable to everyone would welcome a live chat.. in such a chat room. or paltalk where people with web cams.. can be seen..in well almost real time..

Now do you think LSC would be still in business.. if what they sold did not work..

Plans.. Trains.. Cars.. Computers.. TV.. Men on the Moon.. Super clue.. paper.. cell phones.. etc etc etc.. and Now PR are apart of our world.. I am sure you can get the book from the library, lend the book, learn it your self and you have poof.. you will know if it works for you, at the very least..

Or buy the book, if you don't have it..

If you seen a magician.. do a magic trick would you still like to learn how he did it even though it was a trick?

I have on question about photoreading. How long does it take for you to be able to comprehend what you read?

The best evidence for PhotoReading is in its beckground. With foundations in Hypnosis and NLP PR is not something you oppose to and resist and then it miraculously turns all your world upside-down.

I have many friends who firmly disbelieved effects of hypnosis, but after getting their consent and attention, after few minutes they were cataleptic, with locked eyes, sensless to the touch, etc.
So experience is probably the best way of finding credible own evidence or proof.

For this stage of learning PR (closer to the beginning then to the end) I can say to be satisfied with it's theory and effects.

Sure many people hardly believe in such amasing results, but the explenations of that fenomenon is in it's beginning - belief.

Greetings to everyone!

P.S. When it comes to "sceptics", I placed bets with two friends. Twice 50 euros go to my pocket after I show the results.

OK, but how long does it take to "reactivate" the information after you "photoread
something?

Reactivate? That's like asking us how long it takes us to remember again...

If you mean how long does it take to activate the book...

If you apply all the PhotoReading steps, as taught, even a beginner, will be able to finish a book in 1/3 their traditional reading time.

Oops, typo there. I meant activate. The impression I got is that a person needs time to actually "activate" the information that they photoread? How long is the minimal time between completion of reading and "activation".
