The rule of the thumb for the pages is as fast as you comfortably turn them in a comforatable rhythm, not turning it into a race and not dawdling to read. A4 pages are going to take a slip longer than A5 by default. The pages have a greater arch to travel from one side to the other. You'll find that even with books of the same size your speed can vary because of the quality of the paper.
