You cannot recall something you have not called on in the first place. If you expect the book to be useful at some point you will need to Activate.

2) yesterday, i made a test for myself, to see if PR really works. i photoread one of my mom's fav novel for 30 min (prepare, preview, photoread, but didnt activate and didnt rapid read. done that in 10 min and rested for 20 min). then i let my mom ask questions bout the novel. i mostly got wrong answers, a few 'close' answers and only 1 correct answer. is my photoreading working, or is there another way to test myself for better result?

Apply all the steps on a number of books to train your body mind connection. It doesn't just happen you need to get the hang of it. Just like someone needs to get the hang of riding a bike before they can learn to perform stunts.

3) i'm currently studying foreign languages(which includes subjects like math and physic in foreign language). there is this big test on the 25th this month. can PR help me get better understanding of the language? if so, is there any method that is recommended (maybe i wont get a 'true' answer for this, but i like opinions)

Not in 10 days. First you need to learn PhotoReading and apply it to some books that do not relate to your studies.

4) lately i've been looking into the forums for more info on PR. since some posts are quite long, and moreover i have not much time to spend, can i just PR a topic straight away, and then do something else after that (study, sleep,)? can you know the topic even without speed reading/dip it?

If you have not taken time to learn PhotoReading and apply all the steps as taught to build the body mind connection to get the information out? How are you PhotoReading anyway... You're skipping a lot of important steps which ones are you skipping to PhotoRead?

Your expectations of applying PhotoReading without learning it first are unrealistic.

5) lastly, is it better to PR often or to activate often? which is better to use for exam? is there any good tips for exams and/or questions from textbook,etc..?

It's better to learn the system as given without shortcutting it if you want to succeed with it.

sorry for the long (and many) questions. i'm just infinitely curious about the system and how it'll work. i'm currently in college and in the first few weeks, im doing pretty well, but my grades are getting lower and lower by the months. now im in the 'lower average' scale and there's a big test on the 25th. i just hope anyone can give me good tips on PR or others stuffs so i can pass the exam well. not only that, i wish to become a good PR.

again i apologize for the long topic. your help is greatly appreciated. thanks

As your experiement with your mums book already showed you have not done all the steps enough to build a body mind connection to hope for spontaneous activation. Those are exactly the results you risk getting when you try to bypass learning the PhotoReading system.

First, you need to learn and apply PhotoReading as taught, to get your reading done in 1/3 the time it takes for you to traditionally read. Once you are familiar with the system and are getting good results with manual activation you can experiment with skipping steps to find out what happens if.
