Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer 2 Questions about Postviewing

I have an older course that doesn't cover postviewing. In my course I use the preview phase to go through the book, find about 25 trigger words and formulate questions. I recently picked up an updated book on photoreading and now it looks like the preview phase is a quick one minute phase to go through the book and get a feel for the structure of the book while the postview is now used to find trigger words and generate questions. My questions are 1. Do I now use the postview stage instead of the preview to find the trigger words and formulate questions and 2. Does the postview phase come right after photoreading a book (before letting the info incubate) or after the incubation stage? thanks for any info on this.

You can do that in both. Keep the preview relatively short - 1 minute would be great. Remember to refine your purpose if necessary. You can then finish up the trigger word hunting and question formulation in the postview stage.

The postview happens immediately after PhotoReading the book. Formulating the mind-probing questions then arouses a sense of curiosity about the material, which helps the incubation and integration of the material.

Thanks for the info KWLee. I have a couple more questions about postviewing. I find myself getting close to about 10 trigger words just from the Table of Contents - is this ok, or should most of the triggers come directly from the body of the text? Also, should I be forumlating my curiosity questions as I am flipping through the book to pull out trigger words, or should I wait until I have gotten my 20 to 25 trigger words and then formulate my questions from those words? thanks again. - Kevin

The purpose of Postviewing and Previewing is to look beyond the table of content ang get the structure of the book, style, layout and language that the author uses. So don't hang around the TOC at first... come back to it if you're lost for trigger words.
