Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer hope (once again)

OK, I bought the photoreading personal learning system like some years back (the cassette version) and some liquid fell on the cassettes which were all in a bag, and they all got destroyed, it was funny and sad at the same time because my luck tends to be weird like that. But I still had the book, and tried to make many attempts to make the system work for moi however, i think i was using it at wrong moments in my life. Every time I was trying to use it I was always pressed for time and had deadlines to meet, tests to take. This was all during high school, I would go on and off the system so obviously it didn’t work for me cause I wasn’t with the proper mindset. On occasion I also posted questions in the PR forum,…etc, but this was many months ago, and I attempted to follow the wonderful advice given to me but was too busy to actually learn the system. Im a junior in college now (I will be in Sept) and I’m a computer science major. Although the major computer science is incredibly interesting, its also incredibly hard and my grades have not been good. So far I have taken very few courses towards my major, just 3 ( because at all the other times I was getting all my regular requirements out of the way such as humanities and social science courses ) and I got 10 more comp sci courses to go , but in order to stay in the major, one of course, has to do good in the courses. Bottom line is that the computer course number 3 was a tough course and I failed it. I was so pressed for time, I was working part time and my course load was pretty overwhelming, I did not have the sufficient time to dedicate to my studies. I got a 0.00. The department is rethinking many things about me and wondering if I should continue to be t in the major. I have about 6 weeks before class begins and of course I am so incredibly desperate to stay in the game. Right now I have dug the photo reading book out of where it was buried and I spoke over the phone with my dean and he said that I will still be allowed to continue on in this major for now but of course I have to do well in the next courses or else things will not be good, meaning I will have to do another major.
Computer science consists of writing codes for computer projects and reading text books that have more codes. My goal is to do well in the courses and understand the material well so that I can be successful in the major. Im realistic, I most definitely , don’t expect any A pluses, but I would love to get many B’s . I have not seen many B’s since I got into Bryn Mawr College. So I am prepared to reteach myself the photo reading method in 6 weeks and welcome any advice that can help me towards my goal. I want to do things right this time.

dcromagirl; my advice to you right now would be 4 things; they are;

1. Photoread
2. Trigger words and mind-probing questions for the trigger words.
3. Rapid Read.
4. Mind-Mapping.

Forget about superreading and dipping for now. Forget about skittering for now.
Now is not the time to be learning Photoreading. You don't want to be learning Photoreading from a position of desperation or needing a miracle. That being said if you already know how to photoread photoreading just the act of photoreading itself without the activation techniques will make learning and school easier because the information you photoread will be on a conscious level and other than conscious level.

So; photoread the computer books on a daily basis and preview and write your trigger words and questions for the trigger words and then do rapid reading. Do multiple passes over the material and definitely do mind maps.

At this time in your life and considering the current situation you are in i think this is the best way to go because you won't be wasting your time trying to learn superreading and dipping you will be focusing your energy on the actual school work later in the future you can learn activation techniques on something that interests you say a help self book on something you are not being graded in school for.

One last time;
1. Photoread.
2. Trigger words and mind-probing questions.
3. Rapid Read.
4. Mind-Mapping.

Photoread4me

First learn the system. Apply it to books that are interesting to you but not related to your studies. Do the 5-day Test/experiement on page 76 of the book with at least three books.

You can take it further by practising mind mapping as part of the activation.

Most importantly learn to get in touch with your purpose for reading a particular book. You'll find that passing the class is often not enough. Dig deeper and decide why do you want to pass the class then look at what you need to know in order to reach that goal.

Now for my parting questions. Take a moment to pnder an answer for each question. Whatever your answer you will find your motivation for both learning PhotoReading and doing well in your studies.

Why do you want to major in Computing Science? What are you going to do with it. Is it really that important to you? How do you see yourself applying that to your life? What do you need to know to get there?

I just read through slider's topic about Pring a math book and read that the activation process is more different because one has to work on the math problems, so my question is how does this activation go exactly after photoreading.DOes one,

Learn the system first before applying it to school related textbooks.

OK on the 3rd day that I was trying the 5 day test on a math book I also decided to Pr like 5 nonfiction books in a public library so I could apply the 5 day test on the books. SO I Photoread 5 books and today is the 4th day of the 5 day test. I dont think I need a 5th day on the books because I got a general understanding of what the books were about.
Results
I felt that my purpose became more clear after my preview on day 2. Preparing and Photoreading became so much easier as I kept repeating the process 5 times per day.
On the 3 and 4 days of the super reading and dipping I found that I was able to answer questions that I had made up for myself when I dipped. \

superreading means that one has to superread every single page in the book and just dip when one feels that the answer to a certain question is found????*********

I was somehow satisfied but not completely with the system.
I found the super reading and dipping to be the same thing as something I usually do.
Example, if I want to find a book on the history of music in the 1990s, all I have to do is find a book with a title " History of music" and just look at the table of contents or the index and find my answer by turning to the appropriate page, w/o having to super read through the book, or preparing or photoreading.

Im not saying that I dont believe in the system.
I guess the questions that I made for myself were to general and the answers to them could have been found by just looking at a table of contents and just flipping to an exact page. I hope that is the case. I made my questions from the trigger words that I got from the title, index, and table of contents and of course by just flipping through pages and writing down words that jumoed out at me.

You don't need to superread and dip every page. Only the ones that have the answer to you mind probing questions.

When you look for trigger words look through the book. Trigger words are words you select at randomc from the pages of the book while becoming more familiar with the structure of the book, layout and authors writing style.

Page 34 of the PhotoReading book 3rd edition. Read the text next to the second Einstein jogging.

ANy more suggestions or comments on my results or on what I did. Im trying to learn the system so that I can later apply it to my studies, comp sci and math.
Where do I go from here, how do I know when Im ready to use the system on math or computer books. I have about 5 weeks to learn the system. I feel that it is working but I want to feel more comfortable with it.

Then do the 5 day test on more books.

Photoread and activate them untill they are fully gelled.
