I was a computer science major in college. I know how you feel. Unfortunately I was not aware of the PR system when I was in college a few years ago and graduated. I learned about all the wonderful educational material LSC offers with in the last 1.5 yrs.

It becomes very difficult to go through a class when you "try" to do something or "hope" to somehow pass with a B. I wanted to ask you some questions but Alex already did:

- Why do you want to major in Computing Science? (Besides the fact that you need to pick a major)
- What are you going to do with it? (Of course, you'd want to make some money & pay bills but what is in CSC that you look forward to in life?)
- Is it really that important to you? (Meaning the subject itself, do you love what you are learning, would it become your passion?)
- How do you see yourself applying that to your life? (And why? Again, besides the fact that you need to do something to earn money.)

See yourself down the road - 5 years, 10 years, 15 years. Find people who are that much ahead of you and see if you'd want to be like them. If you are awarded $10 million, how would you apply CSC in your life? Would you have a passion for it? What would you like to do every day of your life if that is the case.

It sounds funny but the reason most people are unhappy & miserable in life because they do not have a roadmap or goal in life. If you do not know where you want to go in life, you most probably won't get there. So where do you want to go in life?

Please answer the questions. I'm only willing to help - trust me. I'm surrounded by 7/8 very close friends who are also in computer field (networking, web, unix, system, admin...) so I know what can take you where. You can shoot an email anytime if you need anything.

I have an update. I emailed my dean so that he could give me an update on my comp sco situation and unfortunately, there was a big misunderstanding from my part. Im out of the major and I have to switch into another one. I found this out just yesterday. IM crushed and a bit relieved. I decided to switch to math, because I have done some math courses that I can use towards the major. Math is actually something I can imagine myself doing. I was always pretty good at it because its so interesting. Aint it weird. I dont know why I chose comp sci. , maybe because I associate it with robots and I have a thing for robots. I guess that is what I get for choosing a major were my heart is not really set on. Oh well, Im just going to look to the future. Im going learn this PR system and Im going to use it for my new major math .
Thanks for caring DesertSphinx and posting a reply.
