I am trying to improve my ability with photoreading system by reading book using the 5 day test. This is the way I do it:
1)I prepare and photoread;
2)I have a 5 minutes break;
3)I prepare, preview and photoread. I postview and write some trigger words and some questions;
4)I have a 5 minutes break;
5)I prepare and photoread. I then super read and dip in about 25-30 minutes.
6)I have a 15 minutes break;
7)I prepare and photoread. I super read and dip. I control my trigger words and ask for new question.
8)I have a 5 minutes break.
9)I prepare and photoread. I super read and dip. I rapid read some passages i want detailes from. I finally mind map.

If i don't have enough comprehension I continue with the passage number 7 until the book gels.
Is this the correct way to learn 5 day test and so all the system?

Just one question: if during the passage number 7 i don't manage to finish all the book, can I do this in more parts?
I mean, 20 minutes from page 1 to 100.
break.
Repeat the number 7 and super read from page 100 to 200.
break.
Repeat number 7 and super read from page 200 to 300. and so long. is this right? How can I do otherwise, if i am not able to super read in one time?

thank you so much.

First, You don't have to PhotoRead before each activation.

Next, After the first PhotoReading give yourself at least 20 minutes for incubation.

Activation.
You look in the book where your answers. You can start in the middle or even the last chapter first. Look at your purpose.

I suggest you do more activation passes before you go on to rapid read.

You should superread and dipped the book from beginning to end in the first activation from page 1 to 300.

If you do not have enough comprehension activate some more. Your approach is for rapid reading. However if you know you have not got enough comprehesion then you have a purpose. Your approach is therefore flawed. Your approach tells me you have NO purpose and are resorting to passive reading.

Reserve rapid reading for books you want to read for enjoyment. Use it in the beginning only when you feel the book has fully gelled with the other activation. Or when you have the "Feeling" that you have missed something.

I am a little confused.
I always prepare and photoread beacause so it's written in the book. every step of the 5 day test starts with "prepare and photoread" and so I do. Why not?

Not only, you told me to do 5 minutes break and after the third "day" a break of 15 minutes. why now are you telling to do a 20 minutes break after the first time?
You seem to follow the WMS in general instead of the 5 day test in these advices.

For my approach, i think you are right. i have a wrong approach, based on rapid reading. Now I am going to activate with super reading until the book gels. but why are you telling that I have no purpose and I do passive reading? What is wrong?

thank you.

Hi,

superreading and dipping from page 1 to page 300 in first pass ?!?!
Assumed I have prepared 20 mind probing questions (totally) for the whole 300 pages. Would this mean, I have about 1 min. for every question for superreading and dipping in the first activation pass?
Or less than 20 questions are ok in first pass, but should be distributed in the first 300 pages?

I was mistaken in the understanding that you have read the PhotoReading book at the very least.

See page 56 for why you should allow at least 20 minutes after the first PhotoReading.

Since you're activating the same day it's hardly necessary to "refresh your mind" by PhotoReading again.

quote:

Instead of?????

It's all the PhotoReading Whole Mind system. The five day test is a practical way to apply it.

If you were doing the 5 day test as given in the book you would have incubated by overnight. I was merely reminding you to allow at least 20 minutes for incubation after the first PhotoRead. Since you're learning (and that's who the test is intended for) the activity of PhotoReading daily is good practice so the book instructs you to do it again. Although it's not strictly necessary to do the same book again PhotoReading every day doesn't hurt. So to help the beginner the book instructs you to PhotoRead that one again. If you're working through the book in a couple of hours there is no need. I'm not only reminding you of that fact but everyone that might happen to be reading your thread. People have been activating the book without PhotoReading again. For their benefit I wrote the reminder "it is not strictly necessary."

quote:
Now I am going to activate with super reading until the book gels.

Ask the author questions to satisify your purpose.

quote:
but why are you telling that I have no purpose and I do passive reading?

Because you said you wanted to activate the book 100 pages at a time from page 1 onward. If yuo have a purpose and questions you need answered you go directly to that part of the book that answers your questions. You don't waste your time using the passive reading approach.

quote:

What is wrong?

You're using the traditional reading appoach.
Means your purpose for reading that book is unclear. You don't know what you want.

What you're doing is going to a buffet to put everything they have to offer on your plate from beginning to end. You don't know what you want so you take it all even what you don't need and want. If you know what you want you got there and get that first.

Alex, now i have understood what u wanted to tell me about the pohotoreading step.

but, as far as the purpose concerns, i don't know what i want from the book because i don't know what it'there.
I mean, i've just used the PWMS with a book that explained how to write a tesys to graduate.
my purpose was to have useful advices. i wrote some questions after mind probing.
when i began to super read i finshed all the book with few ideas in mind. Maybe i super read without curiosity, just pass the eyes through the book in a passive way. i super read again making attention at the passage that had my answers. maybe this is the right way to do it.

To have useful advise is not exactly the purpose. What you want to do with that advise is your purpose.

That is the right way to do it.

Any hint, regarding my questions above?

Why is it necessary to superread and dip from page 1 to page 300 in first activation pass?
How to proceed if I've too many questions, which cannot be handled in first pass, so that I can only reach page 100??

Push to reach 300 in the first activation or else look to the appropriate places where the answers lie.

The 30 minute activation from beginning to end applys mostly to textbooks that will take multple activation passes.

I'm confused.

I've read the book and gone through different parts more than once. What exactly is being talked about? The 5-day test or the approach for studying for a test? The 5-day test does say to PhotoRead each day. The studying for a test is a 90-minute rotation done in one day with 30-minute limits on the different steps. It seems like the two are being combined.
