Hi ver_tips,

I believe you are asking about entering the "accelerative learning state", whereas I think Alex replied about the "photofocus state" (? - even though entering the accelerative learning state is the 1st step of the Photoreading stage, in which you do the PhotoFocus.)

Entering the accelerative learning state is very similar to the Silva method's 3-2-1 technique.

Learning the 3-2-1 method with Silva is more elaborate than the similar one for Photoreading. Also, according to Silva, you need to practice this every day for about 30-40 days to make it a habit. After that, you will have learnt to enter this state in seconds.

The purpose is to enter a relaxed state of mind, where learning can occur. Use what works for you. Actually, in my opinion, both techniques are identical. They get you to anchor the progressive descent into relaxation with numbers: 3 for relaxing physically, 2 for relaxing mentally, and 1 for entering the ideal state for learning (or for doing the Silva methods). The anchors are visual (seeing the numbers) and auditory (saying "relax", or the numbers in your head). Silva methods were way ahead of their time - many Silva techniques were later modified and used in NLP, etc. (anchors, visualizations, etc.)

I'm sure Paul Sceele has done some Silva training, as he recommends PhotoReading books on Silva methods on page 102 of the PhotoReading book (3rd edition).
