I tried that, and it works like a charm for me. You need to pretend that you are looking at a point much farther away than the image. You are looking "through the image", if you see what I mean.
The image will go out of phocus for a while while your mind adjusts the focusing of your eyes just right. After 15-20 seconds of staring the image should get slowly clearer and completely 3d and the horse will stand out of the image clearly in 3d.
