Yes it's better to do a little everyday. That's why the five day test is so valuable for a beginner. It also lays out a structure that can be used for studying. Once you've succeeded with a couple of easier books you can apply the 5 day test approach to textbooks.

Remember to treat each chapter as a book itself.

Also the use step four of the 5 day system more often. Till the book (or chapter) gels for you. Don't be disheartened if the textbook seems to take longer. Some textbooks take as much as 70 hours of reading to learn all the information in the book so 15 to 24 hours is peanuts when you compare the time.

It's also the reason chunking it into chapters is recommended. It is less daunting.
