Does "Re"photoreading the material several times have any positive effect on the photoreading/activation and Direct Learning? If it does, what is the optimum rate?

Is it time well spent? If you PhotoRead a book 10 times and it takes 3 minutes each time when you can PhotoRead the book once and activate it in 5 to 10 mintues to get the same information you would probably get with spontaneous activation. Why PhotoRead it 10 times?

Nagging the brain to do something isn't going to produce rewards. Anymore than being nagged to tidy your room is going to motivate you to tidy it. It increases the chances of rebellion.

But Alex, that's different. That's someone else telling me what to do.

Actually its the same mind being given directives in the same way it doesn't like being given directives. So reaction will be the same ( no, I don't want to!)

The only reason I would PhotoRead a book more often is, it is a book that normally requires more than one reading to understand. This will apply to most textbooks and on a personal level to any subject that is new to and would take more time to understand.It is usually read it more than once or one read more books on the subject until it becomes familar.

and how about repeating the PR for Direct Learning, does it give any advantage?

PhotoReading for direct learning is only done once.

More is not always better. Often it's a way of drugging your mind with doubts.

Trusting yourself means never having to do more than necessary when once is enough, once is enough.

The reason for asking is that the 5 day test requiers to PR several times. Also, in http://www.photoreading.com/who.asp, the story of that thirteen year old boy from mexico who could tell the location of any word in the dictionary, mentioned that he PRed the book several times. Does this has an explaination?

That's for gaining confidence with the PhotoReading step learning to do all the steps by repetition. Fact remains You don't need to PhotoRead a book more than once for the most part.

I have a hard time believing that photo reading a book more than once reduces effectiveness. What if I come up with a new purpose for reading the book? What if I skipped a page the first time? What if time has passed and I will have a new perspective on the information because of what I've learned in the mean time? What about the 'spaced repetition' principle?

I never said anywhere it reduces effectiveness. I said it is unnecessary.

If you have a different purpose after your first activation just activate for that new purpose. 9 out of 10 times you don't need to PhotoRead the book again.

The likely exception would be textbooks relating to courses. Those you are supposed to "read" more than once anyway.

Paul PhotoRead a book and didn't activate it till 5 years later. Spontaneously opened the book to the answer he required. I've got a few books I haven't activated. My purpose may be different but the information is the same. So a book that I might have done nothing more with than PhotoRead to find out if there is anything useful to me. My have a specific purpose later. I don't bother PhotoReading it again. I would if I was having trouble with the activation.
