I have found qnswers to many of my question on this forum. So it has been a big help. Here are a few questions that I still have:

1. How do you do Small Universe without the tape? The oooom and moooo sounds seem to have an important physical effect which would be missing. If you make these sounds yourself, it would be hard to breathe properly!

2. The summary of Harvesting Qi in the manual mentions massaging your hands as being important, but it does not seem to be part of the exercise. Do you just do this when the spirit moves you, or what?

3. If you have limited time, like maybe when you are traveling, would it be preferable to do a short sitting meditation, or one active exercise?

4. The audio taped sitting meditations end with a mini version of Gathering Qi. Is it preferable to do the entire GQ exercise (as I think Chunlu suggests in the text?

Finally two silly questions.

1. Has anyone else gotten Chunli's music stuck in their minds? I hear that music constantly when my mind is idle. I hope this is therapeutic!

2. Who are the people hiding in the trees behind Chunli in the video? Finally one of them dashes off the screen to the left. I'm thinking that this is either Pete or Paul :-)

Any thoughts on these questions would be greatly appreciated.

I do know that the master's name is Chunyi. Apparently I had a qi blockage in my head when I made the original post, :-)

1) If you can hear the music without the tape, use the same means to hear his voice.
2) Rubbing your hands together is the first move of the Ending: Harvesting Qi
That is massaging the hands. In step 10, you are also massaging the backs of your hands.
It is beneficial at times to just massage your ears or face, etc.
3)In general, I would say an active exercise, like the moving of yin and yang, or the first three active exercises together are more effective. For me, "short", and "meditation" are two diffferent things, although, I think you can relax yourself in a short period of time. The self concentration tape has one go through the body and open up channels section by section. That is a good method. Bouncing up and down is a good way to begin either, as far as relaxing and opening up goes. Often, if I travel, and I am working hard or have limited privacy, laying down in bed when you go to sleep, is a great time to relax and regenerate. At that time, you could do a whole meditation tape. I carry a Sony walkman with headphones, which allows you to listen to a tape anytime, in private.
4)I do the whole thing(I assume you meant Harvesting Qi exercises) at least once a day. If i do the active exercises in the morning, and do the whole thing, then at noon do a meditation, I just do the shortened version.

Gallen -- again, great responses. Here are more comments:

2) You can also massage your fingers for a minute or two each. Massage not on the knuckle side, but the sides that are next to the other fingers.

3) Beginning practioners would probably receive more benefit from short Active Exercises, but anything is better than nothing.

2) The two people in the trees? One is Chunyi's son and the other is the son of the video producer, Gary Rebstock.

Gary, you may recall, is the television anchorman who did the 8-minute newsreport on Chunyi Lin and Spring Forest Qigong. He has quit the news business to help further Chunyi's mission of a healer in every family and a world without pain.

He is currently working with Chunyi to write the first draft of a book by Chunyi, which will be out early next year (hope!).

On another note: Gallen is a jewelry artist and you can see his/her (sorry!) work on the website shown in his/her profile. Very beautiful. Worth peaking at.
