Thank you Mike, but jm, please use Pete's advice as the bottom line. He is the "live" connection to Master Lin. I am just a visitor, and repectfully support this forum presented by LSC and SFQ.
I agree with Mike's advice, regarding standing and sitting. Doing what one can do within one's limitations works.
The name is Chunyi Lin! I have seen alot of posts with Chu Lin and/or Chun Lin.
I have had teachers that have you work "though" numbness in the legs or the holding up of arms in difficult positions. Hardcore training! Stay in Position!! Eventually you do work through it.
I would say, the "other" approach is safer, and kindeR. It is ok to stop and start again , or do two half hour sessions. You will get stronger, and can do a longer session as strength in your legs increases. I sometimes return to a position I have had to leave due to lack of staying power, just to feel it again before I stop the session. It will feel different than it did while you were locked in the first round and numb, maybe fresher, definitely warmed up. You might tire very fast as you revisit the position, but I think it can sometimes provide insight into feeling that position. I might loosen up alittle in between, some bouncing, walking in place/relaxing with slow breathing, etc., but staying focused with breathing during this time to stay connected to the "session".
I don't know about Master Lin saying it will not work on everybody. My only rememberance of that was in referrence to unwilling patients not open to someone working on them, which still didn't mean it wouldn't work, and people who are extremely close to death, or have illness for some reason, that they need to experience for reasons we wiLL not go into. :-) In general, I can't think of that being the case. Maybe you took that information out of context?
