I have just got this course and am having troubles. I have listened to the first three tapes and am watching the video now.

In moving of yin and yang it is said that your arms should move in a circular motion, i don't get this my arms are just moving up and down. Does it have to be exactly right? Also I am also finding it very hard to visualising energy moving.

Hi Richard,
It is a circular 'motion' as opposed to the literal shape. As your hands reach the top and bottom, make a smooth rounded continuing motion as the lower hand moves in, and the upper hand moves to the outside. It is actually more of a flat elipse, or cartouche shape.
Difficulty in visualizing the energy is common. It improves with practice. Experience it like relaxed, but focused daydreaming. Read previous posts, there might be ones that address this. best regards, gallen

Hi Richard (aka:new guy)

To piggyback on Gallen's response, another way to look at the "circular"" movement is that your actually moving that energy collumn in the same way as the small universe meditation from tape 6. the hand that's moving up next to the body is moving the energy up the back channel, as the hand moving away and down the body is bringing the energy down the front. You're hands are then like energy paddles, assisting the movement of the energy through those two channels.

Take your time to feel the movement of your energy in those channels. As you become present to it, you may find it's speed closer to slow flowing honey than a a fast stream. Enjoy the experience and be patient with yourself. Shawn

The strongest sensation I get in this exercise stems from the open cylinder. I feel myself open up to, and vertically align with "heaven". This is a very expansive feeling that dominates my experience in the exercise. It seems, for me, that this opening up allows light to come in, animate the energy, and create less density. This upper connection, or opening up, helps me visualize the energy, as it allows light in, and energizes the activity. Although I don't experience it as strongly, the bottom is also open. This puts me in sort of a conjunction of where heaven and earth meet. I feel open, and part of that grand exchange. I think the side effect of opening up, literally casts light on the experience. If I slow down the movement, it seems to become more expansive and realized. The energy coming off of my hands, seems to easily enter, through me. If I am moving slow, it is felt somewhat horizontally, easily going through to my back side, front , center, whatever. I also feel it locally, where ever my hands are. In this sense, I can direct it to specific places. I know that energy is always moving circularly in my front and back channels, but, as soon as I open up that cylinder, I don't really experience the small universe, as much as the big one! It just seems to clear out inside and open up. I am sure the movement takes care of itself, and is a constant. I wouldn't be surprized if everyone's internal experience was different.
