I've just this minute ordered the SFQ Course over the net. I ordered the course with one big health problem in mind but was hoping to also improve my health generally. I have 2 questions though:

Firstly, does it matter at all that I am a certified nihilist? I am a little concerned that this is going to be an "it'll only work if you believe it does" situation.

Secondly, thie course make such bold claims that surely they can't all be true . . . my common sense says that I shouldn't mention my health problem here but what the hell - a short while ago a had a brief but torrid relationship with a particularly promiscuous girl and as a result I contracted a certain (treatable) venereal disease, my situation is only made worse by the fact that the treatment is slow and painful - is SFQ the answer?

Like other healing modalities believing can help open the gateway between the mind-body connection. However I don't think its a primary requisite. I compare it to acupuncture which I have studied. Whether you believe in it or not it still works. Yoga is another example. However, to have an open mind about the execercises and their ability to affect your body it very helpful. Then, as you start to experience
some of the benefits of the excercises, the more you realize- "hey, this does work!" and thus the more 'belief' and intention you put into the excercises, and there you have the snowball effect. If the system of Qigong was based on belief alone, you wouldn't need the system to effect a result. I'm a very skeptical person when it comes to anything, but I also keep an openmind about everything and not judge it so quickly until I have researched it thoroughly and used it diligently. It also helps to listen to other peoples experiences here. I also just ordered the Qi gong course. Qi gong works by bringing your body back into balance. Since a disease is a result of an imbalance (of Yin and Yang) in the body, Qi gong can help restore the body's balance and thus help with any disease condition. I hope this helps.

Hi,

Just to add on, according to a qigong book , i read, qigong should not be practiced for certain situations or else the qi may 'move'the pathogens to the brain etc..

remember, the intention directs the qi, and the qi directs the blood..

best qi

Now when I get an answer like that I just don't know what to say - thanks for starters, that makes a hell of a lot of sense. I suppose discipline and persistence are two precursors for success in anything including Qigong.

Aloha,

You won't be focusing on the physical disease/illness in this course. You'll be doing exercises and meditations to clear the energy blockages in your body and promote the free flow of energy through your body's channels. Your "physical" body responds and aligns to this change.

It's set up simply and takes time, love, kindness and forgivness.

Much love, Shawn
