Spirit meaning something similar to the Greek concept of essence. Again, Greek thought saw LETTERS as physical, like the letter A & B & so forth. Then say a word like: CAT is the mental container. Here one thinks of a cat, my neighbor's cat w/ four legs and is yellow & white. Then there is the spirit of the word CAT. The silent patient movement; the sleek graceful jump that i feel in my heart when i see that cat jump from a table.

This earth is in spirit, our mother who nourishes us via the crops and fruit she produces. She is our protector via the homes we build and the caves we seek shelter in from the rain. This is spirit type of thinking and description.
