I'm hoping somebody can come up with some suggestions to help with my children's asthma. We came back from holiday to a real change of weather which is often dificult for them and tends to catapult them into a cold followed quickly by wheezing. I only know about level 1 so I'm doing some sword fingers on the middle of their chests. I'm aiming it in from the side - that is I sit facing them but to one side and aim my fingers across to their mid chest at an angle of about 45 degrees. Actually I do aim at their lungs as well from this position. (Have I understood it right that it's dangerous to aim from directly in front of them because you shouldn't do this for the heart energy?)

I do the sword fingers for about a minute and then 'grabbing handfuls of extra energy' for 2/3 minutes, perhaps longer. Although Master Lin says I will know when to stop I notice that I don't really know when to - any advice on this?. Afterwards I put some energy back in 9 times as suggested. I have noticed that as I do this I have a cold sensation in my palm with my daughter Alice but not with my son Jack. Any thoughts about what this might mean - for example have I not grabbed enough extra energy.

I found asking them to relax and really concentrating on my love for them was useful.

I have a number of questions.

Am I doing it for long enough?

Would I see any benefits immediately or will it take time? (Not surprisingly when they get seriously wheezy it distresses me and I want to help as quickly as possible)

Is there anything else I can do? They already do some Buteyko brathing which does cetainly help and we have various homeopathic remedies that they take but this is a recurrent and unpleasant problem.

Is this perhaps a suitable time to ask for a telephone healing from Master Lin?

Perhaps one of my problems is feeling somewhat unsure of the effectiveness of what I can do for this particular problem. I can help with stomach aches for example but this is a differnt area of systemic problem it seems and maybe I just expect too much from my limited skills.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Love

Kev

I'd still really like some thoughts about this but to give an update on where I am with helping in particular my daughter...

I found that simply doing the level 1 healing more often and for longer helped. Alice kind of resists the idea that anything is helping her and does to some extent like to wallow in the misery of it all. Gallen mentioned something recently about having a big smile to emphasise the love and kindness of the healing. This was excellent advice. When I asked her to relax and think of a nice time there was something about the way she looked which also really increased the love I feel for her and my desire to help. On one occasion she began to relax even more and felt very sleepy which was certainly a good sign - she has had very little sleep recently because her breathing is so laboured and most positions so uncomfortable that she is trying to sleep almost sitting up propped up with pillows. She's sleeping as I type this having had a much better night courtesy of some appropriate homeopathic remedies and, I like to think, the healing. She's 10 and it's hard to watch her struggle in this way because she is generally so full of life.

I noticed that doing some sword fingers etc helped an wondered if there were blocks along the energy channels down her spine which needed clearing. No doubt level 2 looks at this in a much more comprehensive way and eventually I will invest in the course. At present I'm making the best use I can of the level 1 ideas and my intuitive sense of what's needed.

Again, any thoughts, encouragement, etc are very welcome.

Love

Kev

Hi Kev5,
It is hard to get too specific, as it would get into trying to pass on level II through the forum, which wouldn't work..
The time you do your sword fingers and grabbing is not a critical factor. It relates more to your sense of being finished. When your visualized image/intention is finished, the work is done.
As you clear, you will do sword fingers, followed by your hand grabbing out energy(cloud hands), followed by putting energy in with your palm/palms, nine times) Keep your hands soft and open, wrists soft...Visualize as you work.

Try this:
-Connect to your master, ask them for help with this healing work
-Have your daughter relax. Sit to her left side. As part of this relaxation, talk her through three small universe rotations, mentioning each area to breath energy into and also relax those areas. See the energy going into those points/areas. Bring her to focusing on her lower dan tien, pat some energy into her lower dan tien, nine times with your left hand.
- Have her go to her happy place
- Use your sword fingers to clear her C7 vertebra
- under her collarbones, there are two areas called the 'windows to the lungs'. Use your sword fingers there to break up the blockages. When you grab out blockages, move your hands down from the shoulders, through the lungs, turning towards the outside edges of the body at the bottom of the lungs. Think of clearing the outer and inner layers. Put energy through the palms into the windows, nine times, You can see it as white energy, and see her lungs as bright white. She can also envision her lungs as bright white. It is not mentioned in SFQ, but you could have her put a white tiger in her lungs to protect them. This is just a Taoist visualization using a spirit animal. Like something that is in there protecting them 24/7. Sometimes an image like that helps you focus, inbetween sessions, or reconnect quickly to regenerating the image. Work through your master's energy, and treat the spirit animal respectfully. Again, this is just some other information that may appeal to your creativity , or lack of creativity! whatever..
Also, before you work on the lungs themselves, after the C7, also clear the rest of the spine. Just sword fingers and just long grabs downward, clearing it out. Put in healing energy with your palms afterwards. So, you are clearing the spine first. Upper and mid spine is most relevant to lungs, but the whole spine is good to do, as long as you are there.
-at the end, talk her through three revolutions of sm universe again, ending in the lower dan tien. Pat her lower dan tien nine times again.. Have her harvest qi.

As you do this work, try breathing into your heart center. Along with universal energy, think of spiritual energy, light, coming in from all directions, via the universe, God, or your master's energy. Channel that light throught your hands as you work. Let it become a laser for your sword fingers, cloud hands are soft, feeling, and penetrating, palms are very loving, putting in good energy, balanced energy, healing energy, light...
From level I, having her do breathing of the universe is suggested. Also, massaging the thumbs(lung meridian). You could try the healing 'sound' for the lungs. It is "ssssssssssssss". Just making that 's' sound( no short 'e' sound like 'es', just sssss) , like a teapot's steam sound. It can be done very softly, bearly audible, directing the sound in. This isn't used in SFQ, but it is part of Five Element Theorey. Don't mix it into your SFQ healing session. Perhaps as a small excursion at another sitting, a small game or something. You could maybe have her inhale into her lungs, and exhale down her arms(top inside line to the thumbs) making the ssssss sound and releasing blockages out her thumbs... The lung meridians top section, sort of locates in that window area, and moves down the arms on the thumb side. I hope some of this helps you be more effective.
love,
gallen

one more thing... Make a firm positive statement to your daughter at the end, and perhaps have her repeat it too. "Completely open",,,,,"no blockages", " I am completely open",,etc...

Aloha Kev5,

You're doing wonderfully, despite her eye rolling.

The "feeling" that you've pulled out all the excess energy may take some time to become sensitive to. Before you start the sword fingers, rub your palms together for about 15 seconds, then sword finger and remover the excess energy.

You don't need to put yourself at an angle to miss the heart. Your intention and focus is what guides the energy the energy to the lungs and that's it. That's why one can also sword finger their kidneys from the front of their body, rather than twisting their arms and hands in an awkward position behind them.

The level 2 course will take this into more depth and is worth the investment.

You can show your daughter the Breathing of the Universe exercise with you, or by herself when she feels the tightening or shortness of breath. She can even do this in school by visualizing the hands moving and the energy coming in and out of the body.

Much Love, Shawn

Hi Gallen and Shawn

I'm very grateful for your replies and the amount of thought that you've given this. I know that this is a busy time for you Gallen which makes me especially grateful.

Alice seems to be over the crisis point but I will nonetheless put these ideas into operation. My son, Jack, who is 14, is now going through a difficult patch with his asthma - there is a clear message from the universe here to engage with their healing!! So these comments of your's are now very relevant to him as well.

I had started to teach them the Breathing of the Universe, realising that this had a particular effect on the lungs. Alice has been intrigued by the tingling in her hands as she does this. As an aside she is going through a love affair with home chemistry experiments and has re-named chemistry as chi-mystery after talking to me about these strange movements I do in the front room at just the time she would like to watch something on TV.

Gallen - can I check that C7 is the energy centre where the spine joins the neck and is the one below the base of the neck point mentioned in small universe meditation.

Thank you both very much once again.

Much Love

Kev

C7 is the seventh vertebrae down. It is the bump you can feel on your spine..

Thanks Gallen. I tried out your detailed instructions and felt much more confident about the depth of what I was doing. I take your point that it's about much more than 'technique' but your thoughts enabled me to get into a better state from which to operate. I took care with my visualisations and felt that seeing 'my' energy going into the lung windows and the white energy in Jack's lungs was very important. Afterwards he said 'thanks very much, I feel a lot better'. Although it wasn't that noticeable to me in what way his breathing, for example, was better it was clear that something haad happened 'inside'. We've just spent a little time messing around with a music generating programme on the computer and he is clearly in a different state.

Thanks very much Gallen and Shawn. It was good how your suggestions complemented each other - for example the business of guiding energy in from the front was a really important thing to mention, Shawn, because Jack was so relaxed that I wouldn't have wanted to move him. The sm universe cycles were excellent in calming him and 'centring' him. Also the business of breathing into my heart centre really helped to get me in the right compassionate state - I was grinning like a madman at times! Also good was the very positive ending statements you suggested, Gallen. How would you like to come to the UK and head up some healing seminars?! Maybe you could combine it with a jewellery show at the Royal College of Art?

Lots of Love

Kev

Kev5,
You would benefit greatly from getting level II. Most of my post is drawn from/modified, from that information, save the white tiger and ssss sound, which are just some alternative posibilities from five element theory. If they do breathing of the universe, that's great. Maybe you can get them doing more of level I active, and keep a record of improvements, to get them to realize it works. The movements wouldn't necessarily interest someone those ages, but if they see it really works, they might choose to practice more. They will only be home for you to help, so long. Self empowering them to care for themselves would be a great gift to give them. It might not catch on now, but they might come back later, if you plant the seeds. This has been my experience with my children, who are now adults themselves.
love,
gallen

Gallen

Thanks for your additional thoughts. I am working at interesting them with this stuff and I am getting somewhere. Alice is intrigued by it and very proud of the white tiger protecting her lungs! With Jack he is currently quite overloaded with other exercises as part of a dyspraxia and dysgraphia programme he's undertaking and when I mentioned doing Breathing of the Universe this morning he looked ready to kill. So I'll have to go easy here. However he has found the sm universe very relaxing and I have hope. Also my wife is part of my cunning plan to involve the whole family in some communal qigong. We'll get there!!

Another update. Jack is now in much better shape and I'm sure my work has helped here. Yesterday Alice went to a windy place and was looking wheezy when she came back ( she is very susceptible to this kind of invasive chi from the wind). However I went through the procedures you mentioned and she has had a good night's sleep and is in good shape this morning. As I said she loved the bright white tiger, although she did want to make him yellow and white - perhaps I can get him to do a fur change in the next few days but I decided to go with her request at the time.

Yes I must invest in the level 2 and I will as soon as we get our finances a little clearer - my wife has recently given up her job and is starting in business on her own so we're needing to be a little careful at the moment. Maybe we can put it down as a business expense!!

Much love to you and thanks again for the help.

Kev
