Does anyone else ever have problems with constant yawning during the sitting meditations? Usually about halfway through the 30 minutes I start yawning uncontrollably. I've tried to ignore it, but it's so bad it makes my eyes start watering. I'm not bored, really! I'll be focusing on pushing the energy to the next spot, but the yawns keep coming. Any insights? Aloha Soli, There was a person in the association that had the same thing occur. It's not anything to worry about, your shifting states and releasing toxins. I'll check if Chunyi's refered to it directly. Much Love, Shawn

This would happen to me almost all the time. I tried so hard to keep my tongue pressed to the roof of my mouth, & then, I'd have a yawn attach. I'm glad that I'm glad that it's releasing toxins & a shift in state. Toby

You're not alone! I thought it was from breathing too shallowly. Or almost not breathing at all. *A*

Thanks for the web site links - I really thought the one that pointed out that one theory is that people yawn when trying to stay awake, as I have trouble with this when meditating. Whenever I get the mind chatter to stop, then I struggle with staying awake. I know it's not from lack of oxygen, as one thing I have been good at is taking long deep breaths, although the point about breathing slowly can cause yawning also rings true. Very interesting stuff. I guess the best thing to do is let the yawns come, as by body probably needs it! Thanks for all the responses. Soli

Open a window Soli. Fresh, cool air should help you keep from yawning. Yawning means you need more oxygen. You might be going into a sort of trance from the warmth of the room and that slows your breathing and your body is responding to needing more oxygen by making you yawn.

I didn't respond earlier, because I don't have yawning attacks. I just relax very easily. So I almost always have a few yawns when I start active or sitting meditations, shortly after closing my eyes. After TobyEL's post on trying to keep her tongue pressed to the roof of his mouth, I remembered I always just give right into my yawns. I was conscious of breaking the circuit but I just let it go and reconnected. So this morning I tried to keep my tongue connected. Whoa, that makes for a yucky yawn. After about twice as many yawns as normal (6 instead of 3) I gave into a good deep broken contact yawn. After that, the urge was gone. Just sharing. You are perfection. Iam2 P.S. Toby I spent about a minute with that personal pronoun, trying to keep it gender neutral, then said ah go ahead Toby is a male name.... Wrong. Alohaaaaaaaaawn.... There are a lot of different theories out there. After checking with my notes and more importantly, with my wife... Chunyi says that if you find yourself yawning alot while doing the work, that's a good thing. It's great way of releasing toxins Much Love, Shawn P.S. you sould see little iSaiah calm down and sleep once we put on the small Universe CD in the car or in his nursery.

Hi guys, I'm a girl. hehehe!! I was named after my great,grandmother- Toby. Don't worry, it's a common mistake for posting on the internet. Anyway, just reading about yawning is making me yawn. I got great advice here. I will let it all out now, & not fight the tongue. I must have alot of toxins to release. Thanks, Toby
