While we are at the discussion of how to position the fingers and hands, I have another related question.

Lately, I have been feeling a lot of energy gathered at the finger tips while I am doing the active exercise. That is good but they actually to the point of bursting in pain sometime. The finger points actually feel a lot better after the ending exercise.

Is this just another normal route or should I try to extend the energy out of the finger tips?
Do we want to cultivate the energy to stay within our body or do we want to extend the energy out while we practice the level I exercise?

Hi Bluebird,
The beautiful part of your qigong exercise, is that it takes care of itself. It is when we get caught up in mind stuff, that we tend to over complicate things, trying to analyze, and take our own particular experience and figure there is something more we are supposed to do. All you have to do, is focus on the exercise. Aside from qi moving to the hands, as you express them open, your mind, also amplifies this. It moves there on its own, and if you shift your focus there, it amplifies it. If you are thinking about your finger tips, the energy will amplify there. Nothing wrong with that, or there isn't something extra you have to figure out at that point, just get your focus back to the exercise, and whatever elements you should be focused on, and let everything take care of itself. You won't be off track or doing the wrong thing in any way. Just do the exercise. This is about self healing, regeneration to youthfulness, and raising one's state of being, or consciousness. Just do it, and don't think about what you experience as something that needs fixing or additional direction. It takes care of you. Give yourself to the process. It is all there. Keep your focus within the realm of what you are doing in the exercise, and what visualizations and suggestions are given. What you feel is what you feel. You, the universe and your master's energy, are all working together as one, to elevate all aspects of your being. You are in a great place doing good things for yourself. All the information is there, just do it, enjoy it , and trust it. You may have all sorts of strong sensations or feelings...

gallen

Gallen,

Oh mine! It is like you read my mind. I must have been thinking about the shoulder and moving the energy in my arm; right shoulder to be exact. That must have amplified my awareness of the energy in the hands. I didn't even realize that.

I hurt my shoulder a couple months ago. I should have resist the resistance training!
Yes, had Doctor checked it out. For now, I have some specific exercises to do for the shoulder to restore the movement.
I like practice the SFQ level I exercise first; it just make me feel so much better over all before the shoulder exercise.

Dear Bluebird,
...I see a dark stranger in your future...
Just kidding. :-)
That's good you are doing the active exercise before your shoulder exercises. Try keeping the same breathing and focus going while you do your shoulder exercises. Like focusing on breathing into the lower dan tien, and aligning your posture, tongue up, etc... If you do this , the exercises won't mess with that good feeling you generated in your active exercise. You can improve on what the doctor gave you as exercise, by adding the internal part.
Also, there is nothing wrong with focusing on your shoulder during level I exercises. You don't have to dwell on it, but you can initiate and/or stimulate healing there if you direct some attention there as you exercise. Most of your focus can be on the given visualizations, but you certainly can be aware of helping that area, within the context of each exercise's attributes.

Hi Gallen
Please keep the great posts coming - I read every word you write and like many others on this forum, greatly value your very apparent knowledge and wisdom, not to mention the obvious enthusiasm and passion for this practice that flows in great waves through your writings.

In mindfulness.
