Lots of amazing information here and a couple of things jump out at me I would like to try and briefly share from my own experiences. Yes it is agreed that energy is energy and most importantly what we do with it ultimately has a cause and effect out come.

I have studied many forms of both qigong and martial arts and have had many lessons with both. Medical qigong can be extremely complicated and physically demanding but has its benefits both energetically, physically and spiritually. Same thing with martial arts there are many systems out there and unfortunately a lot have to do with ego. So ultimately on your spiritual path you want to find what resonates with you.

There are many systems out there that have a more spiritual twist to it so a little research may be required for those seeking Tai Chi or systems of the like. Sometimes we don’t realize the gem we have because we are so close to it. SFQ has been put together to simplify qigong for the layman but it should definitely not be taken for granted. Master Lin put together a system that is incredible and touches upon so many aspects of our well being in subtle but powerful ways.

I’m sounding like a sales man but am not meaning to. I think the point I am trying to make is that when you connect with anything spiritually soothing to your soul you begin to open up a part of you that is greater than the physical. With that connection a natural protection opens up within our consciousness. Meaning that you will not need to worry about a potential conflict situation because you will be guided away from conflict or potential disaster. Weather that means your intuition kicks in or fate or whatever you will find that you have a protection around you. This is a natural result of your commitment to self healing and the healing of others. It is sort of an inevitable by product of your intentions on your chosen path and I have now realized my briefly has gotten long winded again. Anyway yet another moment of sharing my garbled ramblings.

Love & light

Nice post Ascending,

I do not think we are a million miles away on this, and agree more than I originally thought.

I intend to keep on with both paths- I love my taijutsu- it seems to be very healing without any thought or effort on my part plus its a lot of fun, and I aim to continue working on SFQG to develop further. Ultimately I believe they will be one path for me- my path, how the universe expresses itself through me.

Ultimately the vessel for learning about/ working with energy probably can be dropped, leaving just that field of universal energy and the flows within it.

And until I get to that point, if ever, I'll carry on learning SFQG. Also I am enjoying this forum immensely...its nice to chat with you all.

Take care

Rich

Thanks for adding ideas here.

I think I said these were ideas of mine. I haven't committed to them as beliefs. SFQ is my only experience with energy work. I have never studied martial arts (two lessons at university don't count). Although I have found a style I do wish to someday study.

Everything I see here makes a lasting impression. However, the word ego jumped out at me like a burning ember, because it contrasts with the humility that Master Lin embodies.

I can't comment on the relative merits of SFQ because I come from ignorance. I appreciate other's experience, but I can not own them just by the observing. I can learn from them though and so my future beliefs may be built upon what you share and for that I am very grateful.

Hi Iam

Could you clarify your last post please- I understand you are searching for your own answers, as am I- but you mention ego as opposed to Master Lin's humility which didnt make much sense to me.

Firstly I hadnt noticed excess ego in anyone's postings- just some good discussion, and secondly, my personal belief is that to achieve unity you have to go beyond dualities, including ego/non-ego. I dont think you can get away from, nor should you try, your ego- it is part of you and isnt bad anyway....I digress: what did you mean?

Regards

Rich

Hi again,
Just some clarification. When Master Lin speaks of energy as energy, not good or bad, from my recollection, it has always referred to blockages, and defining that energy you take out as just extra energy, not good or bad.
Energy, and an energy practice(intention/purpose) are two different things. There are levels of energywork. There is a frequency, or a vibration to energy. Energy, and energy practices, have different levels, and vibrations to them.
The attributes of energy, that come into one's energy practice are different. By attributes, I mean types, like love, or compassion, forgiveness...., or justice, loyalty, courage. These are all higher attributes, but not at the same level, or same frequency. In the practice of martial arts, healing work on self, healing work on others, self practice of raising one's consciousness, etc., different energies and sources come into play. Good or bad wouldn't be a good , or appropriate measure, but, there are differences and levels. Also, from a qigong perspective, we have three dan tiens. The focus in different energy practices, engages with , or utilizes, different dan tiens.
One can pretty easily discern, what one is engaged with, and the type of energy/energies involved.
love,
gallen

Rich23, my idea behind the ego comment was that the ego will want to think that it is responsible for the energy work and effect, while the humble attitude sees the energy work and effect as the efforts of a higher source and they are just the medium. Or something along those lines.

The idea that comes to me is that trying to identify too strongly with the energy work as resulting from my efforts and mastery, may blind me to the correct path where truely good work can be achieved. The path where I do not claim the achievement, only that I act as the conduit of a higher source.

So is the caveat in trying to master SFQ to not become a power master but to become a ideal servant?

Gallen, it will take me a long time to chew all your thoughts. I'll also admit my confusion about the use of the word level. Sure good and bad are avoided, but a judement seems to be implicit in a word like level. As opposed to words like attribute or kind or vibrational state, which have no relativity in their nature.

I'm not saying that people can't have a subjective view of the universe. I don't think I'm ready to give up my own sense of good and bad. It helps me choose how to direct my energies.

I do appreciate this discussion... even if we are drifting from the thread topic. I just wish we were all just sitting in the same room chatting over these ideas.

Aha, Iam. I understand and agree. It doesnt seem to matter what you practice whether it be sports, healing etc etc but getting the self conscious ego out of the way seems to be a necessity for optimal performance.

In taijutsu (and martial arts per se) to respond effectively to an attack requires no-mind. To sense danger is the same. Musashi said that you had to accept your death to prevail, and thus have no attachment to whether you won or lost.

In the Western Magickal traditions the idea is to let go of the focus on results once the rite is complete.

In healing going into the emptiness/ being silent/allowing the universe to unfold as it will are fairly universal it seems.

The Christian, 'not my will but thine be done' is a nice phrase I think.

Hi Gallen

I think maybe its our limited human awareness that causes some of these problems? Definitely by our thinking/actions we 'flavour' the energy. Referring to our grandmaster again, he can hit you very hard and within seconds you are fine with no sign of injury. It seems his energy plays on many different 'levels' at once. I suppose the most practical thing we can do is just to love, be compassionate, and help where we can and not worry too much about intellectualising about these things? But I do love to unfortunately

take care

Rich

I have this pack of incense I bought in a store, and I have the same type, that Master Lin put a blessing in. I experience them as being different.

Judgement 'can' be involved, regarding talk of levels,,,, it is a choice(not a good one), or, one can 'discern' about something from a neutral perspective. Perhaps my conversation is colored by my preferences! I don't know...In theory though, minus the 'me' factor, levels are just places relative to other places. Everything is not on the same level, and that fact doesn't have to imply judgement. Good , better, and best , are different levels...
Also, understanding is a type of power. I think it is okay to talk about things, with the intention of reaching a higher 'level' of understanding.
Enough from me on this subject. ciao'
love,

*Strrreeeeetch*

Level, good and bad may be judgement words, but Judgement is a emotionally packed word.

I'm not trying to be funny. Although humour often contains truths.

I'm also not trying to corner either of you, or win any game. I'm just exploring with you. Sometime symantics is just words, but sometimes we can see new meaning when we look behind the words.

I also recognize that words are woefully inadequate for communicating ideas. I was about to say that it's the best tool we have for communicating, but then I recalled reading about a "guru" (it could have been some other title) who said that he did his best instructing purely on an energetic level.

My 2 cents on the level thingy and the Symantec of it. Ultimately it is all a label used to describe something, giving us a vantage point for referencing. Just as you can not necessarily have good with out bad. Better yet, know what is called good with out seeing it from a potential vantage point of something bad.

Take colors for instance each color has its own vibrational frequency and as such have an effect on us. Extreme examples of this is Red representing anger, outward expression of energy either verbal, martial or whatever. Colors like blue being more peaceful and relaxing can have a calming effect on anyone. To test this all one has to do is muscle test with the two colors. So I guess what I am trying to say is that descriptive name given to levels only help us discern the differences between A&B. Also consider that what A is for one person may not be the same for another.

I agree the ego should be embraced, it is a core part of who we are and our primal survival. But it must be kept in check for it may not necessarily serve us as we move to higher LEVLES of thinking. For instance the fight flight situation that the ego is a great part of can react in two ways. Fight being considered the lower vibration approach and associated with the color red also a lower vibration on the color spectrum. Flight does not necessarily imply a coward approach but can be a choice based on calmness and centeredness. The calmness factor would be in the higher vibration colors such as the blue and violets which are calm and soothing. And now I find that I am rambling and my 2 cents growing so I’ll let it rest for now.

Love & violet light to ya all
