Hello,

I have recently starting practising Spring Forest Qigong. Attempting to develop a regular routine - in the mornings before work etc. Im hoping it will assist me in improving my health - in particular low energy, fatigue, depression & digestion problems. Im a male, aged 31.

My question is whether cold/hot showers (ie. cold water for say 1 minute, followed by hot water then finishing the shower with cold water), are consistent with the principles of Qigong. Somebody told me that cold/hot showers was good for your general health (ie.circulation), however I will not continue if it contradicts with Qigong.

Thanking you for any feedback.

In addition to daily Qigong exercises, here's one area you ought to check out:

Fatigue, low energy, depression are frequently caused by someone in your area who is suppressive. It might be a neighbor, a relative, a co-worker, your golfing partner.....
Whoever it is, examine the behavior of such a person for moments when he/she
1. puts you down
2. casts disparaging remards
3. makes light of your talents
4. makes you feel inferior
5. makes you feel tensed, ill at ease.
6. ignores you
7. doesn't reply candidly and
honestly to your communication.

etc. etc.......
Such a person invades your universe
with negative energy , and you , knowingly or unknowingly are the EFFECT.

Good luck.

I know it's meant well, 85' but SP's have nothing to do with Pitso's question on taking a shower right after practicing Spring Forest Qi Gong. His question has to do with losing Chi.

Pitso, Just remember, there is Good, Better, and Best. I believe Master Lin said that one should wait 30 mins before taking a cold shower after practicing SFQ.

Pitso:

The cold/hot shower routine works great for circulation. That's why all those happy Canadians are always jumping out of the sauna into a snow bank! You can also just do your feet in a bucket of ice water and then hot water (not burning) as this really gets your circulation and immune system energized.
Depression like cancer hates light, energy, movement, wind, heat, circulation and happiness/smiles.

As Mayflower said stay away from water 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after SFQ active exercises or meditations. Never meditate in water as it just drains away your energy.

Depression is a lung channel problem so you want to really smile and open your lung channel, pat your arms and spend some extra time visualizing clean energy coming into your lungs and all those blockages coming out like diesel soot out of an old ford flatbed truck. Spend a little extra time doing the SFQ level 1 exercises that focus on the lungs.

Spiritual people are more sensitive to the environment, people and other influences so you do have to take a look at what is going on around you as well.

Let us know how you are doing. By developing your spiritual energy you will overpower these pesky physical body problems. It will be like cutting butter with a chainsaw,

Dianetics85, I'm glad you posted that list. I've recently started becoming immediately aware of my energy loss around certain people. One person, very near and decreasingly dear, fits every description, including the etc. I'm using SFQ to build energy so that I'm strong enough to do what I need to do to change my situation. I use the index finger/thumb technique that Chunyi Lin teaches in Level 2 to prevent someone/someplace from being able to pull energy from us.

Question: How do I get in touch with Chunyi Lin for an appointment and to learn about his workshops? It seems there is much going on besides what happens through Learning Stategies offerings.

Aloha PAL,

You're doing well: build your energy, do good things for others, live in appreciation, and if you get one of those "wrong place/wrong person" feelings -incorporate what he mentions in level two.

For information about live classes Contact Anoka-Ramsey Community College at 763-422-3303 and request that a Spring Forest Qigong Class & Retreat schedule be sent to you.

Drop me an email, or call customer service at Learning Strategies regarding contact and phone healings info with Chunyi Lin. 1-800-735-8273.

Much Love, Shawn
