Hi all,
I just got this Qigong kit and the first exercise Mr. Lin does is try to have you make your fingers grow.
I was not too successful - at least not yet.

Is this normal? Do most people make it happen right away? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any advice!

Leah,
Relax and don't try too hard.
It is an exercise to show you how powerful your mind is. It will come if you don't force it.
Some see it right away , some take a while.
That really does not mean any mind is more powerful than the others either.

Read the material and get back to it again some other time. Don't let this hold you up from reading more or worry youself by it.

When I started the practice, I did not care to do it but went ahead with practicing the exercises. After about three months of practice, one day as I was listening to the tape, I thought I would give it a try and presto! the fingers did grew and shortened as I wished. Believe me, no greater effort was needed to achieve this.

I also experienced the other exercise of visualization namely, passing energy through the sword fingers. This required greater focus and concentration.

Ive been a member of this forum for a while, but have rarely visited the spring qigong forum, i dont know much about it or mr lin. But this post intrigued, since besides goals of intelligence increase, developing accelerated foreign languyage acquistion methods and other things, a big project of mine is mind body connection and making changes (permanent cahngfes) in the physical structure of the body using ur mind. So can u actually make ur fingers longer (i have very small hands , dissprpotiante to my body and its always bugged me ), can someone explain all this stuff im extremely intrguied

As stated earlier, the exercise is just that - an exercise to show you how powerful your mind is.

Since you appreciate all the other tools Learning Strategies creates and provides to assist you in experiencing your full potential, you'll find Spring Forest Qigong a cornerstone and catalyst in bringing your body mind and spirit to your next level of peace, clarity, creativity, and genius.

SFQ is not about fixing or curing. It is about healing -an active participation in purifying and developing of your energy. Your body, relationships, and environment as a result start to come into balance. Can physical changes be created through this work? Yes, look at just those testimonials on the SFQ web site.

I get an email every so often from people wondering if they can grow their finger with this course, can they increase their height, breast size, etc.

As Chunyi would say, "anything is possible when one's energy and focus is strong enough", but at the root of SFQ is Love, Kindness, and Forgiveness...and one of the first places for healing you'll here Chunyi mentioning is in finding appreciation and love for one's body just as it is right now. It's been with us day in and day out like a best friend, and do we treat it as we would a best friend? What do we say to it, think about it, feed it, and treat it?

You can find a deeper level of growth and development tk421 by bringing Spring Forest Qigong into your life. AlexK would be a highly resourceful colleague of similar pursuits whom you could email regarding her personal experience and the impact SFQ has made for her.

Could it make a a change in the size of your hands? Chunyi would say anything is possible.

Much Love,

Shawn

Since you're asking the Spring Forest Qigong forum I'd have to suggest Spring Forest Qigong level one. Wonderful physical changes from suffering to health and well being. After level one you progress to Level two where you can further your ability in helping to heal others.

When it comes to cosmetic changes like size of hands, shape of nose, shape of feet etc. Going into the emptiness will take you beyond that.

Alex.

Hello Alex K., thanks for ur reply, i had a quick questions, would u mind clarifying this statement: "When it comes to cosmetic changes like size of hands, shape of nose, shape of feet etc. Going into the emptiness will take you beyond that." Im not quite sure i completely understand it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some things just take too much time and energy to change even with cosmetic surgery. When you do qigong you realise that the self is a bit like a rose bush, Cosmetic changes are like focusing one one badly formed bloom and trying to make it right but this is time consuming and at the expense of the care of the plant as a whole. Failing to notice that leave are discolouring and as a whole is starving for sunlight while you're trying to protect that bloom from excessive sunlight.

When you tend to the whole plant the vibrancy of every part and every leave and every other bloom makes that unusually small lop sided bloom okay as it is.

When you do qigong you're taking care of your whole body and mind.

Alex
