The most common term for this breathing technique is "reverse breathing". It may be considered a higher level breathing technique, and perhaps, is not taught as readily. I don't know 'the' source of this practice, but I generally associate it with Taoist source, and their contributions to qigong. There is more to breathing, than this physical technique. Listen to, and follow all aspects of breathing given by Master Lin.
I learned reverse breathing prior to SFQ, but I didn't learn other aspects to breathing and visualization, that Master Lin teaches, and that I find very effective and valuable to incorporate, along with reverse breathing.
