I appreciate your replies but they leave me more confused. Why does Master Lin teach an advanced breathing technique as the default method of breathing? One web site says: "Be very cautious when practicing Reverse Breathing. Do not practice more than 3 minutes at a time, and don’t force it or you may injure yourself." See

In every system that I am familiar with breathing techniques are crucial and you do not begin with advanced techniques; instead you work up to them.
