I have started practising SFQ for the past 15 days and I am practising SFQ for 35 minutes (DVD) following the masters instruction.

I am also practising Breathing small universe and sitting meditation three times a week.

I request seniors to kindly guide me on the following matters:-

1. I am unable to keep my eyes closed all the time during my active exercise.

2. I am unable to syncronise the breathing with hands movement particularly while doing Breathing of universe and harmony of universal energy. This is mainly due to the fact while I am able to control the movement as slowly as possible but breathing (inhale and exhale) is very shorter because of my health condition.
3. Suppose if I have 10 minutes time only can I just do any one of the active exercise and conclude.
4. I am able to do only by evening 7.30 PM my active execise is that OK

Meditation:-
Small Universe:-
1. I am Unanble to keep the time of inhalation for the same duration as per the master's voice. Is that OK.
2. Can I also practise small universe for lesser time say for 15 minutes.

Self Concentration:-
1. While doing self concentration the master is guiding is for few minutes folwed by long music before ending. What we are suppose to do during the music time.

Final

I am also get a strange situation when I end up doing the SFQ I feel my energy level is very low. Is it due to more channels opening up.

Please advice

Thanks In Advance

I am 71 and I can't either; especially during the Harmony of the Universe and Seven Steps.
It doesn't matter. Master Lin mentions that not everyone will be able to close their eyes.

I am not sure everyone can match Master Lin's rhythm of breathing in the beginning; I still can't. I sometimes take short breaths in between Master Lin's breaths to let my rhythm match Master Lin's. I am talking about both the active exercise and Small Universe. I still get the feeling of energy in my hands and sometimes in other parts of my body. It's all about good-better-best. What is best for you may not be the same for someone else. The important thing is to do the exercise the best you can do them. From what I understand, Master Lin is not rigid and modifies some ot the exercises depending on conditions.

I have a hip and knee that gives me pain. It has lessened slightly through SFQigong. Sometimes when I get a flareup during the day, I do the Seven Steps or better Harmony of Universe also and the pain is reduced or goes. And, of course, being sometimes lazy, I sometimes skip the exercise in the morning and I am forced to take the time to just do Seven Steps and Harmony of the Universe later in the day. Master Lin talks about doing just five minutes of something throughout the day.

My experience is, it doesn't matter what I do so long as I do something every day. When I don't do something, I notice the difference.

Again, my inhalation is never quite the same as the master's. I find that no matter how short the time I practise it is always beneficial.

I think we are just trying to feel ourselves as part of the universe. Others can speak of their experiences.

I feel like I have had a very strong workout. There is a relaxed feeling. I don't have a lot of apparent energy. I just want to relax.

I assume others will respond to your questions. I am also curious as to their experiences. The questions you ask are ones I have had from time to time.

I'm not a quite a senior yet, but I can try and help.
I still open my eyes for the Seven Steps, somedays I still wobble and have to put my foot down a time or two. That is fine. It is better that falling over. Just stay relaxed and comfortable. Being relaxed allows you to connect better with the emptiness and that is the multiplier on the benefits to your exercises. Closing your eyes helps you focus and connect, but it is not necessary.

My ultimate goal would be to go around the whole day, with my eyes open, while being fully connected to the universe. I consider those times I have to open my eyes a starter steps along that path; "and that's a good thing".

Good question and one I had to think about and even play with the method a bit. It's good because many people may have this problem, and good because it's an issue I've not encountered.

For some exercises it's not too important that the motion and breathing be synchronized. For the two you mentioned I believe there is a lot of benefit in synchronizing the breathing and motion.

So for Breathing of the Universal energy I tried two things. Moving my hands faster and moving then slowly but over a smaller distance. I had good sensation of energy with both methods, but slower would have been better.

My opinion is that the breathing and motion should be synchronized. I also believe it is better to keep the motion slow and shorten it. Then as one benefits from SFQ practice the range of motion will slowly increase as one's capacity to breath slower.

The Harmony of the universe is a movement you can't shorten. It is also one that took me quite a while to get my breath harmonized, and I don't have any breathing issues. However, one day I found myself doing it effortlessly. Later I really started to enjoy this movement. It was one of the last movement for me to appreciate.

My beleif is you should do Harmony of the universe as best you can. If trying to synchronize is too hard then do the extra breaths. The key is staying relaxed to facilitate your connection to the emptiness. So try an few variations, the one that is most comfortable for you is the one that is best for you.

Master Lin does address this one in the material. He says any amount of time, at any time of day you can is good. He also says that if you have only a little time, it is better to do only one movement for the time period. Then maybe do another movement for your next short meditation.

He also says when it Best to do each type of exercise, but it is still beter to do it when you can than to not do it when it is Best.

Practicing SFQ consistently is one of the keys. It takes advantage of the body's readiness to accept routine. It also helps in the long run to stay with the practice.

Small Universe:-

I still have problems staying in synchronization with the Master's directions during the Small Universe tape. I force myself to follow the instructions, but I prefer to go more slowly. Therefore, most of the time I do Small Universe in silence or with the meditation music. Althought, I occaisionally listen to Master Lin, because I think it is good practice to come back to the source.... and I usually find something new, or that I've changed something.

The short sessions are okay.

There are other threads on the forum on this very issue. Nothing was very satisfying to me, until I read in Master Lin's book "Born a Healer" about what some of his students described doing. He just related their experiences, there was no comment on it, there was no judgement, just the pleasant stories. This says to me that you are to have fun with this time.

I have relived some childhood experiences. I have visualized myself as completely healed, in fantastic physical condition, in great energetic harmony with the universe. I always project positive ideas and connect as fully as I can with the experiences.

Honestly, I don't know why. Then I don't know the why of very much of what I experience in SFQ.

It may be that, for now, the exercise are taxing you physically, but you will adapt and grow healthier. If may be that energy blockages are being moved (but then isn't that what happens as we get stronger? ).

My suggestion would be to spend a little more time connecting and bring into yourself the energy from your Master and the Universe. This one also took me a while before I found a visualization that worked well for me. I had my own previous experiences that I tried to make fit into Master Lin's instructions. With time I found one that I feel good about.

Also, personally I feel more energized after a sitting meditation than an active meditation. From what I've read that is definitely not the case for everyone. But then we each are different and have different needs and are at different spots on similar journeys. None is better or more correct, but all are exactly perfect for each of us, right this moment.

You are perfection.

As to how long one should practice a particular exercise, here is an example from Master Lin himself: he told myself and another person that during a healing he does a couple of rounds of small universe breathing on himself while the client/patient is taking the three long slow deep breaths he asks the person to take before he starts the healing.
I got the sense that clearing/cleansing/energizing himself is automatic and constant with him.

I find having eyes partly closed helps. Opened enough so that I can focus on something in the distant. that way I don't feel like I've lost the connection with the emptiness

I've never bothered tying to syncronise my breating or movement to with anyone else, it allows me to slow down at my own pace.

The energy being low at the end might just that you are trying too hard and you ned to let go and breathe at a pace that is right for you.

Dear All
Thank you very much for taking time and sharing your experience and suggestions. It is very encouraging to be part of this group.

After carefully understanding each message, when I practiced yesterday keeping in mind all the suggestions, I am happy inform all of you that i did not feel the energy depletion which I used to feel previously at the end of the active exercise.

I also started enjoying sitting meditations

Thanks for every thing
