I've just begun using the virtual compass on a regular basis before beginning the Active Exercises but am somewhat confused by it. I feel the energy in a circular movement but am not sure how to read it even though I realize that the intent is to just allow it to move me. For example, if I feel a strong swirling motion to the left, am I to step out to the left or rotate my body to the left? If the energy is pushing me back, should I step back or try turning to face that direction? I ask these questions only because I have tried reacting in different ways and yet never feel that I reach the desired intent - to be perfectly "centered" I very seldom reach a point of perfect stillness - the need to move around or adjust goes on and on.
In other exercises I have become attuned to the energy and am able to allow it to move through me . . . with me. I don't understand why I am unable to react the same way with the Virtual Compass. Any suggestions would be appreciated ?

I've been there.

Etoile, my suggestion is to make your question clear and concise. I don't want to walk around my house or to the park to find the best place to do my practice.

I usually say something like "While standing here, which direction should I face to get the most benefit from my qigong meditation?" This makes it clear I don't want to move, only change my orientation. I might try saying something like "Within this room where should I sit to best help my health (or something else) with my meditation?"

I've found that this helped me stop being moved all over the place. Clear questions, clear signals are important when calling on the help from the universal energy.

Thanks Iam2 for the suggestions - I am working with them. It seems that at the moment I am having a lot of movement in general in my practice. The Moving of Yin and Yang continues to be a bit of a workout - almost as if an upper body dance with my feet planted firmly on the floor - movements that I would not normally risk putting my back and neck through, but I've been able to trust the energy and its gentleness and go with the flow. The movements have been beautiful - far beyond my conscious mind.

Despite my request this morning during Virtual Compass that I "please be turned to face the most beneficial direction to practise my Qigong this morning", I was turned in a complete circle severa times. I guess that I'll have to trust that there is a reason for this at this moment.

Thank you again for your response.

Perhaps you shouldn't ask to be turned, just ask which direction is the correct direction to face. Then you must learn to interpret the message you get.

I'll resist suggesting how the information may come to you, but listening to Master Lin and you hear his stories of the different ways in which you may recieve guidance. As well as times when it wasn't immediately obvious what the message was, or that it was a message.

Stay with the core of the SFQ, keep it simple, and review the keys to success.

Etoile,

I am intrigued !

I also find a bit of playfulness and a sense of humor on the part of the Universe.

I think that Iam2 is suggesting the old idiom "be careful what(how)you ask for, you just might get it"? You did ask to be turned (big smile)and the Universe is all around us.

Educational. Wonderfully educational.

Yes, it does make you smile. It makes me think back to my original intent to be "deeply centered" . Probably a rather vague request as I'm sure that it has many interpretations - physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc. Since then there has been so much movement . . . something to think about

Not quite be careful what you ask for but be mindful.

Perhaps the marvelous Peter Sellers illustrated the idea best with the Inspector Clouseau routine that began with the question, "Does your dog bite?"

There was nothing wrong with the question or with the answer. It just wasn't the right question to be asking.
