Hi,
Has anyone found sections of SFQ that seem to trigger weight loss? I know there's a statement about that in the sales letter I bought from, but it's not mentioned anywhere in the materials, and I did get the Master Level.
It's not my main reason for learning this practice, but if there is a particular trigger, it would allow me to ease off some of my other efforts and free up more time and energy to focus on the other aspects of the teachings.
I also suffer from bad migraines. Has anyone had any experience with results from SFQ?
Thanks,
Jana

Hi Jana
I think the whole concept of SFQ is about bringing the body, mind and spirit back to complete health, harmony and balance which I believe includes the body going back to normal weight. In one of the sitting meditations from level 1, Master Lin says 'your weight is back to normal"

Master Lin also has a video with special exercises for weight loss - I got a copy at the retreat last year and although I don't need to lose too much weight, the exercises themselves are really beautiful and I have incorporated them into my daily active exercise routine.

You may be able to get a copy through Master Lin's other website - I can't lay my hands on the URL right this minute as I'm in the middle of moving house but I'm sure Shawn or someone else may be able to help.

With Love
Jetay

The address is:
www.springforestqigong.com
or www.bornahealer.com

SFQ isn't just meditation. It has the external component too. Diet and exercise are the external to the meditations internal. We strive for balance and flow.

I would expect that as you open your channels and clear your blockages you will feel improvements in your conditions. Start you meditations with a request for healing, then go confidently into your meditations knowing the universal energy will give you the help you need.

You are perfection.

Hi again,

I should clarify a couple points in my question -
I am extremely active - I'm a Middle Eastern dancer & instructor, and I teach at a professional plus level, eight classes a week plus rehearsals and performances, so I am not a couch potato, and am also an avid meditator, do yoga and Tai Chi as well as other martial arts.

As a teen, an illness rocketed me up to 240 pounds, and at that time I found Middle Eastern dance, and over some time, lost 100 pounds. Recently hormornes have pushed me up again - I was 170, and lost 50, but gained some back. I am 5'2 and small boned, and would really like to attain my optimum health. I feel that in order to do that I need to keep as much weight off as I can, I'm not eating very healthy - very low cal, low carb, and would like to be able to eat healthy whole grains, etc. without gaining weight.

I do believe that bringing the body back into balance should also balance weight, but it's not been my experience in life - I also know that just because that's not been the way things have been does not mean they can't be. For the first time in many years I am once again pursuing my passion for dance as my livlihood, and need to lose weight for filming instructional videos, so I am very motivated - I am 46, still dancing, teaching and performing, and want to be able to let go of my day job soon. )

I am just starting down the SFQ path, and am so happy to have found it. I also hope to make some new friends through the forum.

Thank you Jetay and Iam2 (love that!) for your helpfulness. I know I am not the only one battling with this side of life and hopefully others will benefit from this thread as well. I'll go check out those sites, and thanks very much for finding those for me!!

Love and Light,
Jana

Aloha Jana Beeman,

Bend your knees a little more during the active exercises.

Wanna really work it? do them in a deeper horse stance. Definitely not for the beginner.

I remember Darcie coming home one night and Chunyi had her and Jim demonstrating it during the active exercises for the students. Not a big deal to do it for one class' exercise time, but there were two more classes that night to demonstrate for...

We've got one weight loss video left from the retreat which I will hold for you (Chunyi doesn't sell it through his web site.)

Call LSC, ask for me, and I'll get it sent out.

Much Love, Shawn

Aloha Again Jana,

Do you notice any pattern with the migraines. Do they happen when your very hungry, stressed, eating certain things, during menstruation, etc.

This can give you more insight into the blockage. If you have the Level II course, you can work on yourself in the mirror.

I worked with one woman who's blurred vision during a migraine episode cleared from drinking Yin-Yang water. I then did a healing session with her and the disabling, day-long migraine was gone and she could get up and get things done.

Chunyi worked on a woman once with migraines that the blockage didn't show up until she was menstruating, then he saw it and removed it.

Much Love, Shawn

Hi Shawn,

On the video, I will give you a call today - thanks!

On the migraines, yes, I've ID'd some common denominators. I should mention I was hit by a car on my bike as a child and have damaged the 3 triangular bones at the top of my spine. So there is also a physical trigger.

I get them most when a constant level of stressed is released, rather than applied. I also get them before and after my cycles, and am working to regulate my hormones (however I am not confident that modern meds are the way to do that!). Meditation has been the most effective, and I only take drugs when I can't work due to the pain. I get 'classic' migraines, which are not vision oriented (no auroras) but there is sensitivity to light, sounds, smells.

I have done a lengthy food elimination program, and have removed wheat from my diet, and restrict dairy. I've also cut way back on sugar and processed foods.

The good news is that many women with migraines lose them as they go through menopause, which I'm fast approaching, but I've also never been much like most women, so would rather do what I can. I can often relieve them by drinking Earl Grey tea (only one that works!) and doing some breathing exercises if I catch them at the right time. I have made a great deal of progress on them over the past few years through meditation, and now I have about 2 a month (4 - 5 bad days) as opposed to the 3 -4 good days a month I used to have!

I'll look for the blockages and see what I can see. I'd appreciate any ongoing suggestions along that line, as I am very new on this part of my path.

Thanks again, Shawn, and I'll give you a call soon to get that video.

Bright Blessings,
Jana
