LSC, I recieved my tapes recently. Were the masters done in dolby? Usually tapes have a print mark, but these don't mention it. I want to make sure I use the right dolby setting or none at at all to get the sound most as it was meant by your recording studio. Thanks.

Hello, that post is about non-paraliminal tapes. Possibly the same for paraliminal, but can LSC confirm this please?

On my stereo, non-dolby has exessive hiss. Dobly B sounds good. Dolby C sounds best for Paul's voice, but the music is distorted so pretty sure not Dolby C. For those that are curious, Dolby noise reduction isn't something just done at the stereo, but an encoding done at the recording studio as well (artificially inflating trebles for example), which the stereo decodes and brings back down inflated frequencies.
So it is important to use correct setting to get the correct frequency balance that was intended for listener.

Is there hiss when you play any audio tape?

None of my cassette players hiss, and I've used the Paraliminals on and off for years.

I suggest using setting "B" when you listen to the Paraliminals.

Thanks Dana for your reply. All tapes have hiss. It is a disadvantage of cassettes. I would prefer a definitive answer though over a suggestion. Could you ask somebody there to call the studio were the tapes were encoded and ask what they encoded in, or no encoding at all? Thanks.

I must say that I am surprised that you have trouble with the tapes hissing... The paraliminals have never given me any trouble with my personal cassette player. LSC even suggest nothing more than a cheap $20 cassette player is required to listen to their paraliminals.

Dana advise to use Dolby B to reduce tape hiss reminded me of something that my tecno friend had once told me some time ago that "dolby B this is industry standard". So I checked to confirm.
