WOW! Amazing!
Your post reminds me of my situation in 1991. I was in High School (11th grade) and broke my right arm in a mandatory wrestling match - my fault that I tried to prevent a fall by taking my whole body's weight on my right arm. Both of the bones were broken. I was taken to emergency room, had surgery the next day (4.5 hours, I looked at the clock on the wall when they put me to sleep and then again when they woke me up in the OT). Got 2 plates and cuts on both sides of the arm were sealed with staples. So I still have 2 scars and spots for the pins. I wish someone knew SFQ to help me.
Your question is very interesting. I'd love to wait and see responses. Although, if the plates are taken out (I still have them, they sometimes bother me during a sudden & intense weather change - other than that I don't even think about them except for right now), the bones will be weak and will need some support until they are strong enough (Doctors mentioned 6-8 weeks of plaster, I think, if I want to get them removed ever).
I hope your son feels better.
