Looked into it already... Sensor Neural Hearing loss cannot be reversed. It means that the nerve hairs are permanently damage and cannot be repaired. Thanks anyway.
After much research into alternative medicines I've decided it's time to quit looking for a fix.
(Did you know that certain anti biotics cause hearing loss in some people, as can nurofen and aspirin) In some cases so can cigarettes this is due to the fact that tobacco is not considered a food product and the pesticides used on them are not regulated. - I don't smoke that was just some information I came across in my research.
Another interesting find... they are working on regrowing the nerve hairs in the ear and believe they may beable to restore nautal hearing this way however it seems that It will be another 10 years before this becomes available for testing on humans.
I've decided it doesn't need fixing and I only needed to find a way to use this disability and get on with my life.
The self-inprovement tools that I have used has helped me a long way.
1. Cleared out depression - no medication was ever taken by me for depression I chucked it back at the doctors. I knew why I was depressed so never saw drugs as an answer and it annoyed me that people in the medical profession saw this as the only answer.
2. Cleared out my anger/frustration at the system that caused my hearing loss. As well as prevented me from being paid compensation. The lawyers didn't want to put me into a witness stand knowing that because I am deaf the defense lawyer would have a field day. (No suggestions required here/ times up... the statue prevents me from taking any legal action anymore)
3. Ended the self pitty and excuses. This is probably the best benefit one can expect from any self help tool. Finding a way to quit making excuses and get on with it; make it work or quit deluding yourself that you want something to work for you.
I wear hearing aids - net results you wouldn't know I'm deaf. I listen to audio tapes I know I have to pay attention to understand them. I figured out a way to handle the telephone. I've learnt to duck quick or take my hearing aids out when I get into a water fight
I've learnt to ask myself is that a true limitation or am I just unwilling to test my hearing. One of the things that the LSC points out... You're not broken - you dont need fixing... OK lets take it from the presise that that is a true statement - If I'm not broken and I don't need fixing yet being deaf is disctinctly different to most other people... therefore I'm just a different model... and I'm going to have different experiences. NOPS doesn't only apply to Photoreading it applies to anything we find challening in life.
It's 2:40 pm 31 December 2002 here and soon enough I'll be at the Mad Hatters place to welcome in the new year
Have a Happy New Year Celebration folks
Alex
