If one only has time to do a small portion of the Level 1 Active Exercises (e.g. 10-15 minutes), is it necessary to do the FULL "Harvesting Qi" Closing Exercises afterwards? Please let me know.

I treat this as a good, better, best type question.

If you have the time, the harvesting of qi is useful. I've seen entire qigong systems that have movements that parallel the movements in the harvesting of qi. Then again, if you don't have the time, the more important steps would be the patting, cupping and the tummy rub.

Aloha RoSpinner,

You'll notice Chunyi does an abrevitaed version of the harvesting of qi at the end of the sitting meditations. Generally he goes through the ears and may add the neck circles.

Gotta love that tummy-rub though, don't ya KWLEE.

Thank you, Shawn. I wasn't aware that the harvesting Qi exercises at the end of the sitting meditation could also be used after active exercises. In fact, I hesitate to deviate from what is presented in the course, but I may be cheating myself in the process.(e.g. all or nothing at all, etc.) In any event, I always have time for the abbreviated version of harvesting qi. Thanks so much, Shawn, for your reply. RoSpinner

Hi RoSpinner,

I believe that the Harvesting Qi is one of the active exercises. On page 20 of my level 1 book, it's listed as #8 - Ending: Harvesting Qi. The recommendation is given to "always finish with the ending exercise."

So you are not deviating from the course at all if you do these as part of the active exercises!
