My wife's menstrual cycle has stopped. What kind of healing can I do? I have taken Level I. THanks so much for your help.

Aloha rgolden,

And its not because of menopause, being pregnant, or over-exercise?

Much Love, Shawn

No, my wife's condition is not related to pregnancy or menopause. Though my wife does exercise quite a bit. Should I use the healing practice I learned in Level 1?
Thanks. Robert

Women who "over" exercise often have their periods stop because of low estrogen levels. Happens very often to long distance runners.

Before I was doing SFQ, this happened to me too. I was working with some Australian Naturopaths and taking their amino acid products so asked them what to do.

They told me to use castor oil hot packs nightly (after 6 pm). Along with this they had me do a warm/hot bath of 2 cups epsom salts + 1 cup baking soda in water deep enough to cover my sacrum (any time of the day). After 1 week of this my hot flashes disappeared (yes, I was entering early premenopause) and before 30 days were up I got my period back, which has continued in a regular cycle now for several months.

These naturopaths were big believers in the cleansing of periods and promoted maintaining them as long as possible in a woman's life. Of course, they said the castor oil hot packs would not be effective if a person wasn't taking their products, but I've read about castrol packs in enough other places to question that bit of self-serving advice.

Hot pack directions: http://www.mercola.com/2003/dec/13/hydrotherapy.htm
(sorry, don't know how to make that active)
scroll down to castor oil pack
I didn't soak the flannel, I just drizzled some on it and only covered my abdomen, not liver. Any hot pack will work if you don't have a hot water bottle.

The naturopaths actually advocated doing the packs nightly or at least 3 to 4 times per week on a regular basis....at the very minimum they wanted me to do it nightly the week before my period.

The bath was a great place to do Small Universe too, once SFQ became part of my regime.
Hope this helps! --kathy

Kathy, you might want to review the PLC. Master Lin is quite clear on the point of doing qigong in water. It can harm the system.

Ooh! Thanks KWLee, I had forgotten this! I do SU every chance I get so wonder where else I'm not supposed to be doing it. Wonder if doing it while under sail on Lake Superior is considered 'in water'. Can you tell me specifically where to reread this? Thanks! --kathy

Aloha katesem,

Master Lin is talking about "in" the water, since your channels are open and you don't want the cold from the water getting in there.

"No deep meditation in water -Thats in Level 12.", he says with a smile.

And for all you (Iam2) who are tempted to ask, "Well what about in a hot tub?" Pass on deep meditation there too.

Much Love, Shawn

Aloha rgolden,

Getting back to your question in regards to menstruation and Spring Forest Qigong...

In the Level II course there is a breast massage listed under "Female Breasts" that does some pretty amazing stuff with balancing the timing and flow of cycles.

I have a friend that has the exact opposite of your situation. From her first menstruation during adolescence until 30-some years later when she found out about SFQ, her menstruation was very, heavy, painful, and wiped her out for a week each time. This made work a little challenging at times.

When she found SFQ and started this exercise, it all balanced out, and as my fellow moderator, Alex, would say "No worries."

She had a baby a little while ago and her whole system reset to to original "not a lot of fun" cycle again. Odd, but she went back to the exercise and once again it balanced out.

The Level II course will be handy for helping your family through many things, so consider purchasing it. I use what's taught in there every day.

With what you have in Level I, at the beginning of your active exercises or sitting meditation time, visualize your wife standing in front of you and invite her to do them right along side of you. At the end of the exercise, thank her for coming and send her back to where she belongs.

Of course, better would be her doing the the active exercises along with you. You can also use the sword fingers technique Chunyi describes in Level I to work on the Cervical 7 vertebrae, the bottom of the feet, the tail bone, the lower back, the kidneys, the breasts, and the area about a hands width below each arm pit. Once again, the level II course will make a lot more sense of this and benefit you both in the long run.

Much Love, Shawn
