One tiny quote, which might shed some light on kundalini fears:

"My gut reaction to the people who write about the terrors of Kundalini, is that they are working through their fears of powerlessness and victimization. If they owned their part in the process and did not blame it on Kundalini, they would tell quite a different story."

I do hope you'll read Ms. Howell's entire column on this subject, it's a good column. She also has a CD out that supposedly helps to awaken the kundalini, but I have no idea if it's effective or not. If someone's tried it, let me know?

All of that said, I do think people should approach k. awakening carefully. Before beginning any spiritual process but especially kundalini work, ask yourself if you really want your life changed--realize that even positive changes can be traumatic for some!
