This is my opinion only so don't take me seriously.
The problem with a contest like this is most paranormal abilities just can't be "proven."
There's always another "logical" reason that could be the cause of something happening and you can never prove that it was the result of the psychic ability. If I cure someone's tumor using Reiki and some scientist sees me doing it and does the before and after tests, there's no proof that that it was the Reiki that cured it. It really comes down to the judgement of the person. He can decide that it was the healing or he can decide the tumor was going to go away anyway on it's own or he can decide the body healed itself or he can decide it was the results of drugs taken months ago finally kicking in or he can decide it was a misdiagnosis in the first place. You can't prove the Reiki did anything.
When you use a paranormal ability you don't effect the world around you. You effect the world within you, which is what you're directly after to begin with.
In the movie, "What the bleep to we know" they said that...
"Given that we are only aware of 2,000 bits of information out of the 400 BILLION BITS of information we are processing per second ... when we argue against new knowledge... how much of our "awareness" is arguing? How can we know everything about all the things that we don't know?"
This information was also presented (maybe slightly differently) in the Photoreading course.
What does this mean? It means that I can do something and other people can't see it happening! A psychic presents an event and this event happens in a part of the 400 billion bits of information that the researchers brain picks up but because they are only consciously aware of 2000 bits of information per second, there's a high probability that they won't be able to sense it.
Visible psychic phenomenon really can't be observed unless the participants are willing and open to the possibilities. John Edwards (the biggest d**ch in the universe
) can't read someone who doesn't believe it's possible. Skeptics can't be read- to THEIR satisfaction. After you deal with hundreds of people like that it's gotta get old and no amount of money is worth it.
I'm sure Sylvia Browne (or someone else on that level) can read a skeptic and get them to "prove" it to themselves that it really happened but a person like that ALREADY HAS a million dollars, or more. They already have all the publicity they can handle and are probably sick of it and are going the other way in their lives - trying to spend more time doing what they want to do- and that doesn't include being in the presense of skeptics.
Besides, if someone really does take that challenge and does win it, Randy will make more than a million publisizing it to the world and any real psychic knows this and knows they can make far more than a million ACTUALLY USING their powers in their own way, on their own time.
There's a much believed "lightside" rule against using your powers to make money. If you help someone for a fee, that's fine. Going for fame or publicity has a price. Any real psychic will know that it's not worth it. And if you are really psychic you'll know in advance or not what's going to happen and if the guy's just going to shoot you down then you're not even going to try anyway.
Once again- this is just my opinion. I can't prove any of it.
