Why is it I have trouble hearing the voice in my left ear, when I'm listening to the paraliminal cd's.

Things to check (pretty much in this order):

Have you tried to play it on a different unit to see if it's the CD? While the technology to produce CD's is fairly good, occasionally things can go wrong in creating them.

Can you hear the "left" track on other similar CD's - or even on music CD's, with the equipment you are using?

Is the unit you're using "stereo" - or mono? Or does it have a switch that might have been moved to mono?

Has the balance on your stereo unit been moved over to the "right" channel completely? It should be centered.

Have you tried another set of ear-phones? Perhaps one of the wires is crimped on the ones you're using - that can affect the output.

I hesitate to mention anything about your own hearing, but if this is a problem with more than one of the paraliminals, and everything else above checks out, then I'd suggest you investigate hearing loss.

If I'm not mistaken, i think Paul's voice (don't know the exact reason) is usually lower on the left side of listening. Thats from the two cds that i have now. I don't think there is anything wrong with your hearing or the cd, but i too would like to know the reason for this.

I can hear, I'm having trouble focusing on both voices at the same time.
is this normal, because I am a left brain person. ALso can you explain a little about how they work with the brain.

I think that it is much better if you dont try and focus on the voices at both side or on one just one side, though maybe rather try and listen down the centre if you can.

To be honest all that I do is pop on a paraliminal, relax and concentrate on my breathing at the beginning, then after a short time my mind wanders and occasionally I fall asleep. I think this is fine as long as you have clearly stated your goal at the beginning of the session. Just let yourself drift and your subconcious will do the rest. You dont have to conciously focus.

I am partially deaf in my right ear though fortunately (pheeew!) I can still hear Paul's voice in that ear.

As said don't try to focus on either voice. If you find yourself attracted to one side or the other for a while that's find. Just listen down the middle relax. If your conscious mind wanders off or takes a nap so be it. The non-conscious mind is supposed to be doing the listening anyway. When you wake up at the end of the Paraliminal it's a sure sign that some part of you was listening. Occasionally you'll hear yourself say I don't want to wake up or get up and might continue to sleep.

Set your purpose for listening and notice what happens. I recommend keeping a journal of your listening and the purpose. It's very easy to overlook the changes that start taking place.

I listen "down the middle" too. However I've actually played with trying to listen to one or the other side and find I cannot maintain "listening" to the left side. I can maintain a focus on the right though. I find this interesing about my brain - is this because of language being on the left side of the brain - or do I have that turned around? What goes into the right ear is being processed by the left side corect ????

I bet you hold the phone to your right ear too. We're creatures of habit. Don't worry about turning it around. both sides of the story are picked up and sorted by the brain. If the right side only picked up the logical and the left side picked up only the the analytical you'd find people with hearing in one year challenged not in their ability to hear but to communicate effectively. The ears like eyes create stereo vision and sound that create the 3d experience of our existence.

It's also like having a left or right handed preference.

If you want to stick with the other story turn the headphones around.. even if you opt to listen to the right ear you're hearing the other story. Now that's an interesting change for the Paraliminals
