I've also noticed that when I stand in the front doorway looking out with the compass in hand, then take a reading in the bedroom, I get a 12 degree difference. Which should I use for general space feng shui? Is that even enough to make a difference? Thanks

A 12 degree difference will matter when taking a compass reading. Check out page 12 of the Level One manual for tips on how to do the reading and what may be causing interference.
